The role of histone modifications in transcription regulation upon DNA damage

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review discusses the critical role of histone modifications in regulating gene expression during the DNA damage response (DDR). By modulating chromatin structure and recruiting repair factors, these post‐translational modifications fine‐tune transcriptional programmes to maintain genomic stability.

Characterization of two solar active regions by activity in the radio range [PDF]

open access: yesGeofísica Internacional, 2000
Based on a statistical analysis we present the results of a comparative study for two active regions. In order to estimate the coronal magnetic field structure we consider jointly the fluctuations of the noise storm background continuum, spectral ...

Chirality of Intermediate Filaments and Magnetic Helicity of Active Regions

open access: yes, 2009
Filaments which form either between or around active regions (ARs) are called intermediate filaments. In spite of various theoretical studies, the origin of the chirality of filaments is still uncovered.

High power terahertz quantum cascade lasers with symmetric wafer bonded active regions

open access: yes, 2013
We increased the active region/waveguide thickness of terahertz quantum cascade lasers with semi-insulating surface plasmon waveguides by stacking two symmetric active regions on top of each other, via a direct wafer bonding technique.

Substrate specificity of Burkholderia pseudomallei multidrug transporters is influenced by the hydrophilic patch in the substrate‐binding pocket

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Multidrug transporters BpeB and BpeF from the Gram‐negative pathogen Burkholderia pseudomallei have a hydrophilic patch in their substrate‐binding pocket. Drug susceptibility tests and growth curve analyses using an Escherichia coli recombinant expression system revealed that the hydrophilic patches of BpeB and BpeF are involved in the substrate ...

Function‐driven design of a surrogate interleukin‐2 receptor ligand

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Interleukin (IL)‐2 signaling can be achieved and precisely fine‐tuned through the affinity, distance, and orientation of the heterodimeric receptors with their ligands. We designed a biased IL‐2 surrogate ligand that selectively promotes effector T and natural killer cell activation and differentiation. Interleukin (IL) receptors play a pivotal role in

Effects of a twisted magnetic rope at the stage of the appearance of a new active region in the photosphere

open access: yesSolar-Terrestrial Physics
Using SDO/HMI data, we have studied the dynamics of small-scale magnetic field elements in the photosphere during the formation of small active region USAF/NOAA 12761.
