Kinetic Screens: Can the use of a Kinetic Screen be utilised as a medium that enables an audience to view projected content.

open access: yes
This thesis explores the application of what is best described as a kinetic projection screen and its use within a performance environment. It examines the kinetic screen’s application within performances over centuries of development, from the use of ...

Active ageing with avatars

open access: yes, 2016
In this paper we describe the development and testing of a virtual exercise class for older people delivered in realtime using active gaming technology (Microsoft's Kinect for Xbox 360). Four seniors (women, aged 64-74) participated. Each person received

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Neurotoxicity of active compounds--establishment of hESC-lines and proteomics technologies for human embryo- and neurotoxicity screening and biomarker identification.

open access: yesALTEX, 2004
Pharmaceutical and chemical industries are facing new challenges for hazard and risk assessment from regulatory agencies. Especially for potential embryotoxicity of active compounds, conclusions from animal testing remain problematic due to numerous species-specific effects. Developmental toxicity screening preferentially should be performed with human

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.
