An exactly solvable model of reversible adsorption on a disordered substrate [PDF]
We consider the reversible adsorption of dimers on a regular lattice, where adsorption occurs on a finite fraction of sites selected randomly. By comparing this system to the pure system where all sites are available for adsorption, we show that when the activity goes to infinity, there exists a mapping between this model and the pure system at the ...

We present the cellular transcription‐coupled Flp‐nick system allowing the introduction of a Top1‐mimicking cleavage complex (Flpcc) at a Flp recognition target site within a controllable LacZ gene. LacZ transcription leads to the collision of RNA polymerase II (RNAPII) with Flpcc, and this causes RNAPII stalling, ubiquitination, and degradation.

In the present study, anti-IBV (infectious bronchitis virus) activities of (-)-pinenes were studied by MTT assay, as well as docking and molecular dynamic (MD) simulations. The CC50 values of (-)-α-pinene and (-)-β-pinene were above 10 mM.

Criticality of a dissipative self-organizing process in a dynamic population [PDF]
We derive a general formulation of the self-organized branching process by considering sandpile dynamics in an evolving population characterized by "birth" (excitation) and "death" (de-excitation) of active sites ($z=1$). New active sites are born in empty sites ($z=0$) with a probability of $\eta$, whereas active sites die, thus becoming empty, with a

Interaction extracellular vesicles (iEVs) are hybrid vesicles formed through host‐pathogen communication. They facilitate immune evasion, transfer pathogens' molecules, increase host cell uptake, and enhance virulence. This Perspective article illustrates the multifunctional roles of iEVs and highlights their emerging relevance in infection dynamics ...

The Metallo-β-lactamase GOB Is a Mono-Zn(II) Enzyme with a Novel Active Site [PDF]
Metallo-β-lactamases (MβLs) are zinc-dependent enzymes able to hydrolyze and inactivate most β-lactam antibiotics. The large diversity of active site structures and metal content among MβLs from different sources has limited the design of a pan-MβL ...

Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) accounts for half of the heart failure cases. It is characterised by microvascular dysfunction, associated with reduced pericyte coverage and diminished STAT3 expression in pericytes. Loss of STAT3 impairs pericyte adhesion, promotes senescence, and activates a pro‐fibrotic gene program.

Sternberg astronomical institute activities on site testing programs [PDF]
Recent Sternberg astronomical institute activities on site testing programs and technique are presented. The main attention is paid to the new modifications of MASS and DIMM data processing developed by SAI team. Four important unresolved questions affected to optical turbulence measurements are raised in the hope to be solved in nearest future.
