Data-driven model of the solar corona above an active region [PDF]

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics, 2019
Aims. We aim to reproduce the structure of the corona above a solar active region as seen in the extreme ultraviolet (EUV) using a three-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic (3D MHD) model. Methods. The 3D MHD data-driven model solves the induction equation and the mass, momentum, and energy balance.

Magnetic Fields beneath Active Region Coronal Loops

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We examine the hypothesis that multipolar magnetic fields advected by photospheric granules can contribute to heating the active chromosphere and corona.

Alfvén Wave Connection between the Chromosphere and the Corona of the Sun: An Analytical Study

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
Alfvén waves are closely relevant to the three outstanding problems in the solar corona: coronal heating, solar wind acceleration, and the fractionization of low first ionization potential (FIP) elements.

Chromospheric Anemone Jets as Evidence of Ubiquitous Reconnection

open access: yes, 2008
The heating of the solar chromosphere and corona is a long-standing puzzle in solar physics. Hinode observations show the ubiquitous presence of chromospheric anemone jets outside sunspots in active regions.

Microfluidic Engineering of Chitosan‐Coated Nanoemulsions for Controlled Release and Stability in Space Pharmaceutics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Microfluidic engineering enables the fabrication of chitosan‐coated, melatonin‐loaded nanoemulsions with controlled release and enhanced physicochemical stability for space pharmaceutics. Interfacial biopolymer coating modulates droplet behavior under accelerated thermal stress and simulated microgravity.

Generation of Fast Magnetoacoustic Waves in the Corona by Impulsive Bursty Reconnection

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Fast-mode magnetohydrodynamic waves in the solar corona are often known to be produced by solar flares and eruptive prominences. Here, we simulate the effect of the interaction of an external perturbation on a magnetic null in the solar corona, which ...

The role of torsional Alfven waves in coronal heating [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In the context of coronal heating, among the zoo of MHD waves that exist in the solar atmosphere, Alfven waves receive special attention. Indeed, these waves constitute an attractive heating agent due to their ability to carry over the many different ...

Ubiquitous High-frequency Waves and Disturbances in the Active Region Corona Observed with Cryo-NIRSP

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The plasma of the solar corona harbors a multitude of coronal wave modes, some of which could be dissipated to provide the required energy and momentum to heat the corona and accelerate the solar wind.
