Curvy Surface Reconstruction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 7, 3 February 2026.
This review introduces the concept of “general curvy surface reconstruction,” which incorporates both geometric and physical dimensions, representing an upgrade over conventional geometric reconstruction that focuses solely on spatial relationships. Particular emphasis is placed on the emerging opportunities enabled by advanced measurement techniques ...

RV Pelagia Cruise 64PE372, 27 Jun - 11 Jul 2013. Flow dynamics and sedimentation in an active submarine channel: a process-product approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Novel technologies are providing new opportunities to study the structure and dynamics of submarine sediment-gravity flows; these flows are the dominant process for transfer of sediment into the deep ocean, but are very hard to monitor due their ...

Evaluating the Risk of Collision of Seals Swimming Within Metres of Operating Tidal Turbines

open access: yesAquatic Conservation: Marine and Freshwater Ecosystems, Volume 36, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT We used imaging sonar to continuously monitor wildlife at an operational tidal turbine in the Pentland Firth, Scotland, between May 2022 and June 2023. Of 704 detected seal tracks, 347 occurred during turbine operation and 122 of these were detected directly upstream of the rotating blades in the horizontal plane.

The Fatal Flaw: Unraveling Combinations of Barriers to Corporate Sustainability

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, Volume 35, Issue 2, Page 1667-1683, February 2026.
ABSTRACT The paper deepens understanding of barriers to corporate sustainability by examining internal and external barriers in the food and beverage sector. Drawing on institutional theory, the study highlights how macro‐level pressures interact with meso‐level organizational dynamics.

Interplay Between Tectonics and Submarine Mass Transport Deposits in Cortes Basin: New High‐Resolution Geophysics in the Outer California Borderland

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 131, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract The Outer California Borderland (OCB) is an active transform plate boundary offshore Southern California, where the relationship between faulting and submarine mass transport deposits (MTDs) remains poorly understood. Onshore paleoseismic data provide high‐resolution earthquake records, whereas marine geophysical data capture longer‐term ...

Standing Meanders of the Antarctic Circumpolar Current: Evidence for Ridge‐Controlled Eddy Saturation

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, Volume 131, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract The standing meanders of the Antarctic Circumpolar Current are key sites of mixing and meridional transport in the Southern Ocean, but their long‐term variability and trends remain poorly understood. Here, we investigate the Pacific‐Antarctic Ridge meander using satellite altimetry data from 1993 to 2023.

Advanced Mid-Water Tools for 4D Marine Data Fusion and Visualization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Mapping and charting of the seafloor underwent a revolution approximately 20 years ago with the introduction of multibeam sonars -- sonars that provided complete, high-resolution coverage of the seafloor rather than sparse measurements. The initial focus

Reviewing seas of data: Integrating image‐based bio‐logging and artificial intelligence to enhance marine conservation

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, Volume 17, Issue 2, Page 272-290, February 2026.
Abstract Conservation of marine ecosystems can be improved through a better understanding of ecosystem functioning, particularly the cryptic underwater behaviours and interactions of marine predators. Image‐based bio‐logging devices (including images, videos and active acoustic) are increasingly used to monitor wildlife movements, foraging behaviours ...
