An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

The clustering of readiness to adopt healthy nutrition and physical activity behaviours

open access: yes, 2011
Purpose: To determine if the stage-of-change categorisation for four healthy behaviours: decreasing sugary drink intake, increasing physical activity level, reducing dietary fat consumption and increasing fruit and vegetable intake, is similar for ...

Predicting involvement in prison gang activity: Street gang membership, social and psychological factors. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The aim of this study was to examine whether street gang membership, psychological factors, and social factors such as pre-prison experiences could predict young offenders’ involvement in prison gang activity.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

L’awareness à l’épreuve des activités dans les centres de coordination

open access: yesActivités, 2005
In Situated Action models, issued from ethno-methodology, the awareness state present in Coordination Centers constitutes the foundation necessary for coordinating operators’ activities, which in turn, will assure a robust work collective.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Accelerometer Monitoring Duration for Reliable Estimates of Physical Activity, Sedentary Behavior, and Step Counts in Preschoolers

open access: yes
This study aims to establish the reliability of accelerometer-based measurements for physical activity, sedentary behavior, and step counts in preschoolers and determine the optimal monitoring duration necessary for reliable data.

Les automatismes dans l’activité : pour une réhabilitation et un bon usage

open access: yesActivités, 2005
Automatisms have a large place in the activity, but often they are put forward for their negative consequences, in particular for the role they play in the production of errors.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Macroeconomic, demographic and human developmental correlates of physical activity and sitting time among South American adults

open access: yes, 2020
Background: Our aim was to investigate the association of macroeconomic, human development, and demographic factors with different domains of physical activity and sitting time among South American adults.
