An LQR theory for systems with asymmetric saturating actuators

2016 American Control Conference (ACC), 2016
This paper presents an LQR-based method, referred to as A-SLQR, for systems with asymmetric (i.e., non-odd) saturating actuators. The development is based on a technique referred to as stochastic linearization, which approximates the saturation function by an equivalent gain and an equivalent bias.

Dynamic anti-windup design in anticipation of actuator saturation

Proceedings of the 2011 American Control Conference, 2011
SUMMARYIn a traditional anti‐windup design, the anti‐windup mechanism is set to be activated as soon as the control signal saturates the actuator. A recent innovation of delaying the activation of the anti‐windup mechanism, both static and dynamic, until the saturation reaches a certain level of severity has led to a performance improvement of the ...

Smart management of actuator saturation in integrated vehicle control

IEEE Conference on Decision and Control and European Control Conference, 2011
Integrated control design to guarantee vehicle stability is one of the main topics in vehicle control. Actuators saturation is a main concern when dealing with this issue. In this work, we propose a fully integrated control by means of three actuators: Active Front Steering (AFS), Rear Torque Vectoring (RTV) and Semi-Active Suspensions (SAS).

Analysis of random reference tracking in systems with saturating actuators

IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 2005
Abstract This paper develops a method for analysis of random reference tracking in feedback systems with saturating actuators. The development is motivated by the frequency domain approach to linear systems, where the bandwidth and resonance peak of the sensitivity function are used to predict the quality of step reference tracking.

Robust Stabilization of Multi Input Plants With Saturating Actuators

IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 2010
This technical note proposes the use of a time-varying sliding surface for stabilizing linear, possibly unstable, Multi-Input plants subject to saturating actuators, in the presence of bounded matched uncertainties. The present work generalizes our previous contributions in several different directions. First, the constructive procedure is generalized,

Observer-based prescribed performance attitude control for flexible spacecraft with actuator saturation.

ISA transactions, 2019
This paper investigates the prescribed performance attitude control problem for flexible spacecraft subject to external disturbances and actuator constraints. By using a new performance function and an error transformation, the attitude control system is

Prevention of Windup Caused by Saturating Sensors and Actuators (With Saturation Indicator)

2021
Good disturbance rejection requires large plant input signals. It can therefore happen that also the always-existing input saturation is activated by the external disturbances. Thus, the loop must exhibit a stable behavior in the presence of joint input and output saturation.
