Rituximab in the treatment of acute cellular rejection of renal allograft with CD20-positive clusters in the infiltrate

open access: yes, 2010
A 31-year-old woman with nephronophthisis received a cadaveric kidney transplant, and was immunosuppressed with cyclosporine, azathioprine and steroids. Twelve days after transplant a biopsy showed acute rejection with vascular damage.

Mesenchymal Stromal Cell‐Based Cell–Drug Conjugates for the Treatment of Acute Liver Failure

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mesenchymal stromal cell (MSC)‐based cell‐drug conjugates are constructed by anchoring rosiglitazone‐loaded nanoparticles onto the MSC surface. Sustained rosiglitazone release enhances MSC proliferation and paracrine activity while promoting anti‐inflammatory macrophage polarization.

Correlated Polymer‐Proton Hopping Enables Water‐Independent Fast Proton Transport in Poly(Ionic Liquid) Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A polymer chain in motion: backbone, ring, and counterion dynamics interlock across timescales to relay protons through poly(ionic liquid) membranes. ABSTRACT Polymer electrolyte membranes composed of ionic liquids (IL), capable of conducting protons efficiently at elevated temperatures, without external humidification, could transform fuel cell ...

Humoral and cellular rejection after combined liver-kidney transplantation in low immunologic risk recipients

open access: yes, 2009
Combined liver-kidney transplantation is considered a low risk for immunologic complication. We report an unusual case of identical ABO liver-kidney recipient without preformed anti-human leukocyte antigen (HLA) antibodies, transplanted across a T- and B-

Tau Aggregate Imaging and Transcriptomics of Alzheimer's Disease Brain at Different Stages of Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The protein aggregates and gene expression in the middle temporal gyrus (MTG) and somatosensory cortex (SOM) of the postmortem brains of 13 Alzheimer's disease patients were studied in detail, revealing that small hyperphosphorylated tau aggregates increase with Braak stage driven by microglial inflammation.

Treatment Responses in Histologic Versus Molecular Diagnoses of Lung Rejection

open access: yesTransplant International
Histologic evaluation of allograft biopsies after lung transplantation has several limitations, suggesting that molecular assessment using tissue transcriptomics could improve biopsy interpretation.

Role of the human beta-herpesviruses in organ allograft rejection following transplantation. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
In previous prospective studies conducted in our department, PCR was used to detect the three ({dollar}-herpesviruses, human cytomegalovirus (HCMV), and human herpesviruses 6 and 7 (HHV-6 and HHV-7) in the blood of solid organ transplant patients.
