Establishing an assay to evaluate d‐amino acid oxidase enzyme kinetics and inhibition using WST‐8 redox dye

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study investigated a novel WST‐8‐based assay for evaluating d‐Amino acid oxidase (DAO) inhibitors. We confirmed its effectiveness using known inhibitors and found that uremic toxins possess relatively weak inhibitory activity compared to existing drugs.

Геометризация зон формирования пород-коллекторов в кембрийско-нижнедевонских карбонатных образованиях Нюрольского осадочного бассейна юго-восточной части Западно-Сибирской геосинеклизы [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Hepatic injury and regeneration of the liver are associated with activation of hepatic stellate cells (HSC). Fibroblast growth factors (FGFs) and their receptors are important regulators of repair in various tissues.

Cutaneous Melanoma Drives Metabolic Changes in the Aged Bone Marrow Immune Microenvironment

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, increasingly affects older adults. Our study reveals that melanoma induces changes in iron and lipid levels in the bone marrow, impacting immune cell populations and increasing susceptibility to ferroptosis.

Pharmacological inhibition of STAT3 pathway ameliorates acute liver injury in vivo via inactivation of inflammatory macrophages and hepatic stellate cells

open access: yesFASEB BioAdvances, 2020
Liver diseases represent a major health problem worldwide, in particular, acute liver injury is associated with high mortality and morbidity. Inflammatory macrophages and hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) are known to be involved in the pathogenesis of acute

FK 506 pre-treatment is associated with reduced levels of tumor necrosis factor and interleukin 6 following hepatic ischemia/reperfusion [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
Using a rat model, the effect of pre-treatment with FK 506 on hepatic ischemia/reperfusion injury was investigated. All control animals died within 72 h of the ischemia/reperfusion injury.

Post‐COVID Fatigue Is Associated With Reduced Cortical Thickness After Hospitalization

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Neuropsychiatric symptoms are among the most prevalent sequelae of COVID‐19, particularly among hospitalized patients. Recent research has identified volumetric brain changes associated with COVID‐19. However, it currently remains poorly understood how brain changes relate to post‐COVID fatigue and cognitive deficits.

Shikonin Attenuates Concanavalin A-Induced Acute Liver Injury in Mice via Inhibition of the JNK Pathway

open access: yesMediators of Inflammation, 2016
Objective. Shikonin possesses anti-inflammatory effects. However, its function in concanavalin A-induced acute liver injury remains uncertain. The aim of the present study was to investigate the functions of shikonin and its mechanism of protection on ...
