Severe painful lower limbs and refusal of the leg reliance as atypical presentation of Gullain Barre syndrome [PDF]

open access: yesSrpski Arhiv za Celokupno Lekarstvo, 2019
Introduction. Guillain–Barre syndrome (GBS) is the most common cause of acute flaccid paralysis in healthy infants and children. Acute motor axonal neuropathy (AMAN) is a type of GBS characterized by motor syndrome with no sensory symptoms. Case outline.

Transient Sleep Deprivation Induces Persistent Auditory Neuropathy via ROS‐Initiated Neuroinflammation and BK Channel Suppression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Sleep disturbance severity closely tracks hearing loss in a clinical cohort, yet the mechanistic link remains unclear. Acute sleep deprivation is shown to trigger transient cochlear oxidative stress that switches into a self‐sustaining neuroinflammatory state, suppressing BK channels and causing irreversible synaptopathy.

Mitochondria‐Targeted Nanotherapeutics: A Promising Strategy in Modulating Mitochondrial Function, Transfer, and Transplantation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review summarizes the pathogenic role of mitochondria in diseases and highlights mitochondrial transfer and transplantation as emerging therapeutic strategies. It systematically discusses how nanomaterials are engineered to facilitate these processes, and critically examines the current challenges and future perspectives for their clinical ...

Acute motor and sensory axonal neuropathy (AMSAN) associated with COVİD-19 infection ; a case report

open access: yesJournal of Emergency Medicine Case Reports, 2022
Myalgia and headache are relatively common in COVID-19 disease, but the serious neurological disease is rare. In this case, we describe the symptoms and clinic of AMSAN, a rare variant of Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS) due to COVID 19. We presented a case of AMSAN, a rare variant of GBS, in a 46-year-old male patient with a poor overall condition that ...

Epidemiological and clinical aspects of Guillain-Barré syndrome and its variants

open access: yesArquivos de Neuro-Psiquiatria, 2021
Background: Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS), an acute polyradiculoneuropathy that occurs because of an abnormal inflammatory response in the peripheral nervous system, is clinically characterized by acute flaccid paresis and areflexia with or without ...

In Situ Photo‑Crosslinked Functional Bilayer Hydrogel Modulates Local Microenvironment and Remyelination After Optic Nerve Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A blue‐light‐crosslinked bilayer hydrogel was developed for local optic nerve repair. The adhesive GM‐Odex outer layer seals and anchors the lesion, while the non‐adhesive GM‐imid inner layer releases MPDA‐Cle without obstructing CSF flow. This system modulates oxidative and inflammatory microenvironments, supports oligodendrocyte differentiation and ...

Establishing Sensory Neurons as Therapeutic Targets in Peripheral Neuropathy Driven by Polyglutamine Expanded Murine ATXN3

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Repeat expansion disorders frequently involve peripheral neuropathy, yet mechanisms remain unclear. Using a spinocerebellar ataxia type 3 (SCA3) Knock‐In Atxn3Q300/Q6, we identify progressive sensorimotor deficits, peripheral nerve pathology, and dorsal root ganglia RNA splicing dysregulation.
