Acute Oxalate Nephropathy Associated With Clostridium difficile Colitis

American Journal of Kidney Diseases, 2014
We report the case of a 69-year-old man who presented with acute kidney injury in the setting of community-acquired Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea and biopsy-proven acute oxalate nephropathy. We discuss potential mechanisms, including increased colonic permeability to oxalate.

“Green Smoothie Cleanse” Causing Acute Oxalate Nephropathy

American Journal of Kidney Diseases, 2018
Oxalate nephropathy is an uncommon condition that causes acute kidney injury with the potential for progression to end-stage renal disease. Diagnosis is based on the kidney biopsy findings of abundant polarizable calcium oxalate crystals in the epithelium and lumen of renal tubules.

Acute Oxalate Nephropathy Associated With Orlistat, a Gastrointestinal Lipase Inhibitor

American Journal of Kidney Diseases, 2007
Orlistat is an oral inhibitor of gastrointestinal lipase used for weight reduction in obese patients. Although most adverse drug effects manifest in the gastrointestinal tract, this is the first reported case of orlistat-induced acute kidney injury secondary to acute oxalate nephropathy in a white woman with underlying chronic kidney disease.

Acute oxalate nephropathy induced by star fruit in rats

American Journal of Kidney Diseases, 2001
In this study, we intend to establish a connection between star fruit and acute oxalate nephropathy and also investigate predisposing factors for its development. Male Sprague-Dawley rats of 180 to 200 g were assigned to four groups; namely, control, experimental, fasting, and water-deprivation groups.

Acute Oxalate Nephropathy After Ingestion of Star Fruit

American Journal of Kidney Diseases, 2001
Acute oxalate nephropathy associated with ingestion of star fruit (carambola) has not been reported before. We report the first two cases. These patients developed nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and backache within hours of ingesting large quantities of sour carambola juice; then acute renal failure followed.
