Effects of HMG CoA reductase (HMGCR) deficiency on skeletal muscle development
Three skeletal muscle diseases are linked to HMGCR, a key enzyme in cholesterol synthesis. These diseases include a muscular dystrophy associated with pathogenic variants in the HMGCR gene, statin‐associated myopathy, and autoimmune anti‐HMGCR myopathy.

The molecular mechanisms of defensive‐grade organic acid biosynthesis in ground beetles
Formic acid and methacrylic acid are the primary defensive chemicals in the pygidial gland secretions of Platynus angustatus and Pterostichus moestus, respectively. Comparative transcriptomics suggests the folate cycle and valine catabolism may be involved in the biosynthesis of formic acid and methacrylic acid, respectively.

Control of fatty acid distribution in phosphatidylcholine of spinach leaves
The acylation of lysophosphatidylcholine by enzyme preparations from spinach leaves was studied. The acylation reaction was followed by the incorporation of 14C-labeled fatty acids from the respective coenzyme A derivatives into phosphatidylcholine.

Abstract Visual cues are of critical importance for the attraction of animal pollinators, however, little is known about the molecular mechanisms underpinning intraspecific floral colour variation. Here, we combined comparative spectral analysis, targeted metabolite profiling, multi‐tissue transcriptomics, differential gene expression, sequence ...

Summary Diatoms are a major phylum of microalgae, playing crucial ecological roles. They derive from secondary endosymbiosis, leading to a complex intracellular architecture. Their ability to store oil in lipid droplets (LDs) upon unfavourable conditions has raised interest for applications, in particular biofuels, yet Lipid Droplet (LD) biogenesis ...

Biosynthesis of the fatty acid components of the Apis mellifera mandibular gland pheromones takes place in a stepwise manner. Differential gene expression in the mandibular gland tissue of workers from two subspecies of African honey bees with differing reproductive potentials and at two age groups was investigated.

ABSTRACT The family Rhinopomatidae comprises six species of mouse‐tailed bats within the genus Rhinopoma, inhabiting arid regions of the Old World from western Africa to Myanmar. While their phylogenetic relationships have been explored through morphology and molecular analyses, many populations still remain insufficiently studied using molecular ...

Abstract As an ecological unit, the rhizosphere microbiome preserves an enormous and largely unexplored diversity of microbes that play essential roles in plant health and soil functions. Omics technologies encompassing high‐throughput approaches such as metagenomics, metatranscriptomics, and metaproteomics provide helpful tools to unravel the ...
