Ligand binding to the ACBD6 protein regulates the acyl-CoA transferase reactions in membranes
The binding determinants of the human acyl-CoA binding domain-containing protein (ACBD) 6 and its function in lipid renewal of membranes were investigated. ACBD6 binds acyl-CoAs of a chain length of 6 to 20 carbons.

Long-chain acyl-CoA synthetase 2 is involved in seed oil production in Brassica napus
Background Triacylglycerols (TAGs) are the main composition of plant seed oil. Long-chain acyl-coenzyme A synthetases (LACSs) catalyze the synthesis of long-chain acyl-coenzyme A, which is one of the primary substrates for TAG synthesis.

Short-chain fatty acids activate acetyltransferase p300
Short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) acetate, propionate, and butyrate are produced in large quantities by the gut microbiome and contribute to a wide array of physiological processes. While the underlying mechanisms are largely unknown, many effects of SCFAs

Detection of peroxisomal fatty acyl-coenzyme A oxidase activity [PDF]
It has been postulated that the peroxisomal fatty acid-oxidizing system [Lazarow & de Duve (1976) Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. U.S.A. 73, 2043–2046; Lazarow (1978) J. Biol. Chem. 253, 1522–1528] resembles that of mitochondria, except for the first oxidative reaction. In this step, O2 would be directly reduced to H2O2 by an oxidase.

Dietary Methionine Restriction Regulates Liver Protein Synthesis and Gene Expression Independently of Eukaryotic Initiation Factor 2 Phosphorylation in Mice [PDF]
Background: The phosphorylation of eukaryotic initiation factor 2 (p-eIF2) during dietary amino acid insufficiency reduces protein synthesis and alters gene expression via the integrated stress response (ISR).Objective: We explored whether a Met ...

Metabolism of propionate involves the activated acyl-thioester propionyl-CoA intermediate. We employed LC-MS/MS, LC-selected reaction monitoring/MS, and LC-high-resolution MS to investigate metabolism of propionate to acyl-CoA intermediates.

Dysregulated cholesterol metabolism, driven by a complex array of mechanisms, is a defining characteristic of glioblastoma (GBM). In this study, supramolecular nanoscavengers are engineered by harnessing the intrinsic binding affinity between endogenous small‐molecule cholesterol and β‐cyclodextrin (β‐CD).

Assessing the effect of statins in lowering the risk of stroke and preventing cerebral ischemia in patients with hypercholesterolemia [PDF]
Numerous analyses have explored the role of statins in reducing stroke incidence, reducing cerebral ischemia in hypercholesterolemic patients, and preventing ischemic stroke.

Assessing the effect of dynamics on the closed-loop protein-folding hypothesis [PDF]
The closed-loop (loop-n-lock) hypothesis of protein folding suggests that loops of about 25 residues, closed through interactions between the loop ends (locks), play an important role in protein structure.

In the H‐type electrolytic cell, carbon dioxide is reduced to acetic acid via electro‐microbial catalysis. The simply processed acetic acid is further converted through biological fermentation into high‐value‐added products, including acrylic acid, L‐lactic acid, and β‐alanine.
