Metabolic and tissue-specific regulation of acyl-CoA metabolism. [PDF]
Acyl-CoA formation initiates cellular fatty acid metabolism. Acyl-CoAs are generated by the ligation of a fatty acid to Coenzyme A mediated by a large family of acyl-CoA synthetases (ACS).

Proofreading of Noncognate Acyl Adenylates by an Acyl-Coenzyme A Ligase
Aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases remove (proofread) incorrect substrates and thereby prevent errors in protein synthesis. We report enzyme-catalyzed pretransfer editing by pimeloyl-coenzyme A (CoA) ligase (BioW), a biotin synthetic enzyme that converts pimelate, a seven-carbon dicarboxylic acid, to its CoA ester.

Long-chain acyl-CoA synthetase 2 is involved in seed oil production in Brassica napus
Background Triacylglycerols (TAGs) are the main composition of plant seed oil. Long-chain acyl-coenzyme A synthetases (LACSs) catalyze the synthesis of long-chain acyl-coenzyme A, which is one of the primary substrates for TAG synthesis.

Ligand binding to the ACBD6 protein regulates the acyl-CoA transferase reactions in membranes
The binding determinants of the human acyl-CoA binding domain-containing protein (ACBD) 6 and its function in lipid renewal of membranes were investigated. ACBD6 binds acyl-CoAs of a chain length of 6 to 20 carbons.

The Roles of Coenzyme A Binding Pocket Residues in Short and Medium Chain Acyl-CoA Synthetases
Short- and medium-chain acyl-CoA synthetases catalyze similar two-step reactions in which acyl substrate and ATP bind to form an enzyme-bound acyl-adenylate, then CoA binds for formation of the acyl-CoA product.

Short-chain fatty acids activate acetyltransferase p300
Short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) acetate, propionate, and butyrate are produced in large quantities by the gut microbiome and contribute to a wide array of physiological processes. While the underlying mechanisms are largely unknown, many effects of SCFAs

Parameters of cholesterol metabolism in the human hepatoma cell line, Hep-G2.
The human hepatoma cell line Hep-G2 has been shown to express the major enzymes of intra- and extracellular cholesterol metabolism. These include lecithin:cholesterol acyltransferase, acyl coenzyme A:cholesterol acyltransferase, 3-hydroxy-3 ...
