Positional Specificities of Acyl Coenzyme A:Glycerophosphate and Acyl Coenzyme A:Monoacylglycerophosphate Acyltransferases in Escherichia coli

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1973
Abstract A particulate preparation isolated from Escherichia coli B catalyzes the acylation of 1-acyl-sn-glycerol 3-phosphate (1-acyl-GP) with both oleoyl-CoA and palmitoyl-CoA. The optimum conditions were determined for the acyl-CoA: 1-acyl-GP acyltransferase.

Purification and Characterization of a Novel Pumpkin Short-Chain Acyl-Coenzyme A Oxidase with Structural Similarity to Acyl-Coenzyme A Dehydrogenases [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 2000
Abstract A novel pumpkin (Cucurbita  pepo) short-chain acyl-coenzyme A (CoA) oxidase (ACOX) was purified to homogeneity by hydrophobic-interaction, hydroxyapatite, affinity, and anion-exchange chromatography. The purified enzyme is a tetrameric protein, consisting of apparently identical 47-kD subunits.

Systematic Analysis of Gene Expression Alterations and Clinical Outcomes for Long-Chain Acyl-Coenzyme A Synthetase Family in Cancer

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
Dysregulated lipid metabolism contributes to cancer progression. Our previous study indicates that long-chain fatty acyl-Co A synthetase (ACSL) 3 is essential for lipid upregulation induced by endoplasmic reticulum stress.

Remnants of an ancient metabolism without phosphate [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Phosphate is essential for all living systems, serving as a building block of genetic and metabolic machinery. However, it is unclear how phosphate could have assumed these central roles on primordial Earth, given its poor geochemical accessibility.

Control of fatty acid distribution in phosphatidylcholine of spinach leaves

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1971
The acylation of lysophosphatidylcholine by enzyme preparations from spinach leaves was studied. The acylation reaction was followed by the incorporation of 14C-labeled fatty acids from the respective coenzyme A derivatives into phosphatidylcholine.

Changes in Beneficial C-glycosylflavones and Policosanol Content in Wheat and Barley Sprouts Subjected to Differential LED Light Conditions

open access: yesPlants, 2020
The spectral quality and intensity of light, photoperiodism, and other environmental factors have profound impacts on the metabolic composition of light-dependent higher plants.

A Single LC-MS/MS Analysis to Quantify CoA Biosynthetic Intermediates and Short-Chain Acyl CoAs

open access: yesMetabolites, 2021
Coenzyme A (CoA) is an essential cofactor for dozens of reactions in intermediary metabolism. Dysregulation of CoA synthesis or acyl CoA metabolism can result in metabolic or neurodegenerative disease.

CoA protects against the deleterious effects of caloric overload in Drosophila [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We developed a Drosophila model of T2D in which high sugar (HS) feeding leads to insulin resistance. In this model, adipose TG storage is protective against fatty acid toxicity and diabetes.

Structure and substrate selectivity of the 750-kDa α6β6 holoenzyme of geranyl-CoA carboxylase. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Geranyl-CoA carboxylase (GCC) is essential for the growth of Pseudomonas organisms with geranic acid as the sole carbon source. GCC has the same domain organization and shares strong sequence conservation with the related biotin-dependent carboxylases 3 ...

Massive endocytosis triggered by surface membrane palmitoylation under mitochondrial control in BHK fibroblasts

open access: yeseLife, 2013
Large Ca transients cause massive endocytosis (MEND) in BHK fibroblasts by nonclassical mechanisms. We present evidence that MEND depends on mitochondrial permeability transition pore (PTP) openings, followed by coenzyme A (CoA) release, acyl CoA ...
