Chemoenzymatic Synthesis of Acyl Coenzyme A Substrates Enables in Situ Labeling of Small Molecules and Proteins.

open access: yesOrganic Letters, 2015
A chemoenzymatic approach to generate fully functional acyl coenzyme A molecules that are then used as substrates to drive in situ acyl transfer reactions is described.

Metabolic and tissue-specific regulation of acyl-CoA metabolism. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Acyl-CoA formation initiates cellular fatty acid metabolism. Acyl-CoAs are generated by the ligation of a fatty acid to Coenzyme A mediated by a large family of acyl-CoA synthetases (ACS).

Characterization of Novel Acyl Coenzyme A Dehydrogenases Involved in Bacterial Steroid Degradation

open access: yesJournal of Bacteriology, 2015
The acyl coenzyme A (acyl-CoA) dehydrogenases (ACADs) FadE34 and CasC, encoded by the cholesterol and cholate gene clusters of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Rhodococcus jostii RHA1, respectively, were successfully purified.

The Regulation of Trace Metal Elements in Cancer Ferroptosis

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
The induction of ferroptosis inhibits tumor growth, enhances anticancer efficacy, and overcomes drug resistance. Recent evidence shows nonferrous metal elements play a role in ferroptosis. This review focuses on how trace metals regulate ferroptosis processes like iron accumulation, lipid peroxidation, and antioxidant defense.

Pathway‐based integration of multi‐omics data reveals lipidomics alterations validated in an Alzheimer's disease mouse model and risk loci carriers

open access: yesJournal of Neurochemistry, Volume 164, Issue 1, Page 57-76, January 2023., 2023
A genome‐scale model network was built for Alzheimer's disease (AD) using data from publicly available genome‐wide association studies in humans, and transcriptomics and proteomics data from brain tissue from mouse models of AD. The derived network was characterized by gene ontology, transcription factor analysis, and pathway and cell‐type enrichment ...

Functional Characterization of GhACX3 Gene Reveals Its Significant Role in Enhancing Drought and Salt Stress Tolerance in Cotton

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2021
The acyl-coenzyme A oxidase 3 (ACX3) gene involved in the β-oxidation pathway plays a critical role in plant growth and development as well as stress response.

Two Activities of Long-Chain Acyl-Coenzyme A Synthetase Are Involved in Lipid Trafficking between the Endoplasmic Reticulum and the Plastid in Arabidopsis1

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 2014
Lipid reassembly is a key step in the transfer of cytosolic lipid precursors to the plastid. In plants, fatty acids are synthesized within the plastid and need to be distributed to the different sites of lipid biosynthesis within the cell.

SIRT4 Promotes Pancreatic Cancer Stemness by Enhancing Histone Lactylation and Epigenetic Reprogramming Stimulated by Calcium Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
As a downstream target of α2δ1‐mediated calcium signaling, SIRT4 serves as an oncogene to promote the stemness of pancreatic cancer via deacetylating ENO1 directly at K358, leading to attenuated ENO1's RNA‐binding capacity, enhanced glycolytic substrate 2‐PG binding and robust glycolytic activity to increase the level of lactate that induce histone ...

Roles of acyl‐coenzyme A synthetase family members in airway epithelia cells

open access: yesClinical and Translational Discovery, 2023
Background The fundamental initial step in the metabolic process of fatty acids (FA) is facilitated by Acyl‐coenzyme A synthetase (ACS). ACS enables FAs to engage in both anabolic and catabolic pathways by creating thioester bonds with CoA, thus ...

Transcriptional Regulation by the Short-Chain Fatty Acyl Coenzyme A Regulator (ScfR) PccR Controls Propionyl Coenzyme A Assimilation by Rhodobacter sphaeroides

open access: yesJournal of Bacteriology, 2015
Propionyl coenzyme A (propionyl-CoA) assimilation by Rhodobacter sphaeroides proceeds via the methylmalonyl-CoA pathway. The activity of the key enzyme of the pathway, propionyl-CoA carboxylase (PCC), was upregulated 20-fold during growth with propionate
