A microfluorometric method for the determination of free fatty acids in plasma

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1983
A rapid and precise microfluorometric method for the determination of free fatty acid concentrations in 2-5 microliters of plasma is described. The assay is performed directly on plasma, eliminating the need for extraction with organic solvents, and is ...

Rat Intestinal Acyl Coenzyme A: Cholesterol Acyl Transferase Properties and Localization

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1984
Microsomal acyl coenzyme A:cholesterol acyltransferase activity of rat intestinal mucosa was measured as the incorporation of [1-14C]oleic acid into cholesterol esters. Exogenous cholesterol and sterol carrier protein singly and together extended the time over which the reaction rate was linear. Cholesterol esterification was suppressed by 2-monooleoyl

A Chemo-Enzymatic Road Map to the Synthesis of CoA Esters

open access: yesMolecules, 2016
Coenzyme A (CoA) is a ubiquitous cofactor present in every known organism. The thioesters of CoA are core intermediates in many metabolic processes, such as the citric acid cycle, fatty acid biosynthesis and secondary metabolism, including polyketide ...

Autoacylation of myelin proteolipid protein with acyl coenzyme A.

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1987
Rat brain myelin proteolipid protein (PLP) is known to contain long chain, covalently bound fatty acids. In the course of characterizing the mechanism of acylation, we found that the isolated PLP, in the absence of any membrane fraction, was esterified after incubation with [3H]palmitoyl coenzyme A (CoA).

Long-chain acyl-CoA synthetase isoforms differ in preferences for eicosanoid species and long-chain fatty acids[S]

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2017
Because the signaling eicosanoids, epoxyeicosatrienoic acids (EETs) and HETEs, are esterified to membrane phospholipids, we asked which long-chain acyl-CoA synthetase (ACSL) isoforms would activate these molecules and whether the apparent FA substrate ...

Characterization of an acyl-coenzyme A binding protein predominantly expressed in human primitive progenitor cells*s⃞

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2008
Human acyl-coenzyme A binding domain-containing member 6 (ACBD6) is a modular protein that carries an acyl-CoA binding domain at its N terminus and two ankyrin motifs at its C terminus.

Effect of pregnancy and lactation on lipoprotein and cholesterol metabolism in the rat

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1998
Origins of hyperlipidemia and cholestasis that occur during pregnancy were investigated by examining expression of key elements related to plasma and hepatic cholesterol metabolism during pregnancy, lactation, and post-lactation in the rat model.
