Invasive foundress finds suitable habitat and reproduces through pathogenesis. Wingless females produce life offspring quickly, which leads to high population densities. High population densities result in competition, which may induce epigenetic changes and wing development for dispersal.

Characterization of the dynamic microbiome evolution across thrips species
Comprehensive survey of the microbiome in thrips. The dominant bacterial genera found in thrips include intracellular ones, such as Wolbachia and Spiroplasma, and extracellular ones, including Serratia, Pantoea, and Acinetobacter. We isolated and sequenced high‐quality genomes of two dominant symbionts, Pantoea dispersa and Serratia marcescens.

Hamiltonella defensa infection increases honeydew production in certain aphid genotypes, potentially modifying aphid feeding behaviour. Parasitoid wasps, Aphidius ervi, are more attracted to honeydew from H. defensa‐infected aphids; though larger honeydew amounts may slightly deter searching.

Different BYDV‐PAV isolates exert contrasting effects on aphid fitness, including reproduction and winged production. Different BYDV‐PAV isolates have contrasting effects on aphid dispersal patterns. Aphid feeding behaviour is modulated by the presence of endosymbionts and plant viruses.

Melatonin in the seasonal response of the aphid Acyrthosiphon pisum
AbstractAphids display life cycles largely determined by the photoperiod. During the warm long‐day seasons, most aphid species reproduce by viviparous parthenogenesis. The shortening of the photoperiod in autumn induces a switch to sexual reproduction. Males and sexual females mate to produce overwintering resistant eggs.

Aphidius eadyi n. sp., a parasitoid of Acyrthosiphon pisum in the west Palearctic is described. Its distribution and interspecific relations (crossing experiments) to a related species, Aphidius smithi, are elucidated.

RNA activation in insects: From emerging evidence to molecular applications
Canonical RNA activation involves small RNAs interacting with promoter sequences, but there is also evidence of non‐canonical RNAa in eukaryotes. Emerging evidence suggests the presence of RNAa in insects. RNAa can be utilised as a tool for functional genomic studies in insects.
