The Influence of Lead on Generation of Signalling Molecules and Accumulation of Flavonoids in Pea Seedlings in Response to Pea Aphid Infestation

open access: yesMolecules, 2017
The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of an abiotic factor, i.e., lead at various concentrations (low causing a hormesis effect and causing high toxicity effects), on the generation of signalling molecules in pea (Pisum sativum L.

Rhizobia–Bean Symbiosis Increases Root Herbivore Attraction and Growth via Volatile Signals and Enhanced Nutrition

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The symbiosis between nitrogen‐fixing rhizobia and plants is considered mutually beneficial, yet its indirect effects on other organisms remain understudied. We examined how rhizobia symbiosis in Phaseolus vulgaris influences the behaviour and performance of Diabrotica balteata larvae. Specifically, we tested larval preference for nodulated (R+

Large-scale gene discovery in the pea aphid Acyrthosiphon pisum(Hemiptera) [PDF]

open access: yesGenome Biology, 2006
AbstractAphids are the leading pests in agricultural crops. A large-scale sequencing of 40,904 ESTs from the pea aphid Acyrthosiphon pisum was carried out to define a catalog of 12,082 unique transcripts. A strong AT bias was found, indicating a compositional shift between Drosophila melanogaster and A. pisum.

Abundancia y riqueza específica de pulgones (Hemiptera: Aphididae) y sus parasitoides en diferentes genotipos y estados fenologicos del garbanzo Species richness and abundance of aphids (Hemiptera: Aphididae) and their parasitoids in different genotypes and at different growth stages of chickpea

open access: yesAgriscientia, 2011
Los áfidos son insectos perjudiciales tanto por la succión de savia como por la transmisión de enfermedades. Los objetivos de este trabajo fueron conocer las especies de áfidos y sus parasitoides presentes en diferentes genotipos de garbanzo, calcular la

Expression pattern analysis of odorant-binding proteins in the pea aphid Acyrthosiphon pisum [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Odorant-binding proteins (OBPs) are soluble proteins mediating chemoreception in insects. In previous research, we investigated the molecular mechanisms adopted by aphids to detect the alarm pheromone (E)-\u3b2-farnesene and we found that the recognition

Methyl Jasmonate Seed Priming Mitigates the Defence‐Growth Trade‐Off and Tailors Plant Response to Specific Pests

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Seed defence priming is emerging as a novel, cost‐efficient and environmentally safe tool for pest management. It has been proposed as a means to uncouple the defence‐growth trade‐off in plants by enhancing defence responses with minimal fitness costs, but the mechanisms underlying this role remain elusive.

Transcriptomic and DNA Methylation Profiles of Alternative Aphid Morphs and Genotypes

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 5, May 2026.
Graph showing the correlation between differentially expressed genes and differentially methylated genes. There is no correlation between gene expression and DNA methylation level in pea aphid polyphenism. ABSTRACT Pea aphids can develop alternative morphs when exposed to stressful conditions, showing differences between genotypes in their stress ...

Identification of aphicidal sesquiterpenoids from Dendrobium nobile: Novel botanical insecticidal candidates against Acyrthosiphon pisum

open access: yesIndustrial Crops and Products
Natural products serve as prime sources for discovering novel biopesticides to manage globally devastating agricultural pests. Given the growing prevalence of Acyrthosiphon pisum resistance to chemical insecticides, exploring eco-friendly botanical ...

The Australian Crop Mirid, Sidnia kinbergi Stål (Hemiptera: Miridae): Lifecycle, Agricultural Impact and Management

open access: yesAustral Entomology, Volume 65, Issue 2, May 2026.
ABSTRACT The Australian Crop Mirid (ACM), Sidnia kinbergi Stål (Hemiptera: Miridae), is highly polyphagous and is endemic to Australia. It is widely distributed across Australia and New Zealand and feeds on a wide range of agricultural crops. ACM has traditionally been a pest of forage crops and legumes but has recently emerged as a key pest of several
