Göbeklitepe in Palaeoclimate Context: Human Responses to Climate Change in the Upper Tigris and Euphrates Basins from the Younger Dryas to the Early Holocene

open access: yesHeritage
The upper Euphrates and Tigris basins are located in modern-day Southeast Türkiye, on the northern periphery of the Fertile Crescent. From the eleventh to the eighth millennium calBC, during the Younger Dryas and the Early Holocene, human communities in ...

Using the AMCE Algorithm to High-Efficiently Develop Vehicle Driving Cycles With Road Grade

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Road grade greatly affects energy consumption and pollutant emission of heavy-duty vehicles. It is therefore necessary to develop representative three-parameter driving cycles while taking road grade into account.

Recoverable DTN Routing based on a Relay of Cyclic Message-Ferries on a MSQ Network [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
An interrelation between a topological design of network and efficient algorithm on it is important for its applications to communication or transportation systems.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Latitudinal and zoo specific zeitgebers influence circadian and circannual rhythmicity of behavior in captive giant pandas (Ailuropoda melanoleuca)

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2023
IntroductionThe circadian clock influences many aspects of animal welfare including metabolism, breeding, and behavior. In most species, circadian clocks are internal clocks regulated by external environmental cues called zeitgebers.

Dark adaptation and the retinoid cycle of vision

open access: yesProgress in Retinal and Eye Research, 2004
Following exposure of our eye to very intense illumination, we experience a greatly elevated visual threshold, that takes tens of minutes to return completely to normal. The slowness of this phenomenon of "dark adaptation" has been studied for many decades, yet is still not fully understood.

Advanced In-cycle and Cycle-to Cycle On-line Adaptive Control for Thermoforming of Large Thermoplastic Sheets [PDF]

open access: yesSAE Technical Paper Series, 2005
<div class="htmlview paragraph">This paper presents a control system for the thermoforming of large sheets. The system has three main purposes: Its primary purpose is for cycle-to-cycle control of the sheet temperature map as predicted by the thermoforming simulation.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

A Process-Variation-Adaptive Network-on-Chip with Variable-Cycle Routers and Variable-Cycle Pipeline Adaptive Routing [PDF]

open access: yesIEICE Transactions on Electronics, 2012
As process technology is scaled down, a typical system on a chip (SoC) becomes denser. In scaled process technology, process variation becomes greater and increasingly affects the SoC circuits. Moreover, the process variation strongly affects network-on-chips (NoCs) that have a synchronous network across the chip.

P and M class phasor measurement unit algorithms using adaptive cascaded filters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The new standard C37.118.1 lays down strict performance limits for phasor measurement units (PMUs) under steady-state and dynamic conditions. Reference algorithms are also presented for the P (performance) and M (measurement) class PMUs.
