Adaptive Observer Design with Fixed-Time Convergence, Online Disturbance Learning, and Low-Conservatism Linear Matrix Inequalities for Time-Varying Perturbed Systems

open access: yesMathematical and Computational Applications
This paper proposes a finite-time adaptive observer with online disturbance learning for time-varying disturbed systems. By integrating parameter-dependent Lyapunov functions and slack matrix techniques, the method eliminates conservative static ...

The Highly Adaptive Lasso Estimator [PDF]

open access: yes2016 IEEE International Conference on Data Science and Advanced Analytics (DSAA), 2016
Estimation of a regression functions is a common goal of statistical learning. We propose a novel nonparametric regression estimator that, in contrast to many existing methods, does not rely on local smoothness assumptions nor is it constructed using local smoothing techniques.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

By dawn or dusk—how circadian timing rewrites bacterial infection outcomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The circadian clock shapes immune function, yet its influence on infection outcomes is only beginning to be understood. This review highlights how circadian timing alters host responses to the bacterial pathogens Salmonella enterica, Listeria monocytogenes, and Streptococcus pneumoniae revealing that the effectiveness of immune defense depends not only

Smoothly adaptively centered ridge estimator [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Multivariate Analysis, 2022
With a focus on linear models with smooth functional covariates, we propose a penalization framework (SACR) based on the nonzero centered ridge, where the center of the penalty is optimally reweighted in a supervised way, starting from the ordinary ridge solution as the initial centerfunction.

Interplay between circadian and other transcription factors—Implications for cycling transcriptome reprogramming

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This perspective highlights emerging insights into how the circadian transcription factor CLOCK:BMAL1 regulates chromatin architecture, cooperates with other transcription factors, and coordinates enhancer dynamics. We propose an updated framework for how circadian transcription factors operate within dynamic and multifactorial chromatin landscapes ...

ADAPTIVE DEAD-TIME ESTIMATION

open access: yesIFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1987
Abstract A method for simultaneous estimation of process parameters and process time delay is presented. It requires a minor extension of the original recursive least squares method. It allows for the parameter-adaptive control of dead-time processes without a priori information about the exact time delay.
