Smoothly adaptively centered ridge estimator [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Multivariate Analysis, 2022
With a focus on linear models with smooth functional covariates, we propose a penalization framework (SACR) based on the nonzero centered ridge, where the center of the penalty is optimally reweighted in a supervised way, starting from the ordinary ridge solution as the initial centerfunction.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

ADAPTIVE DEAD-TIME ESTIMATION

open access: yesIFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1987
Abstract A method for simultaneous estimation of process parameters and process time delay is presented. It requires a minor extension of the original recursive least squares method. It allows for the parameter-adaptive control of dead-time processes without a priori information about the exact time delay.

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Enhancing Classification Performance of Functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy- Brain–Computer Interface Using Adaptive Estimation of General Linear Model Coefficients

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurorobotics, 2017
In this paper, a novel methodology for enhanced classification of functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) signals utilizable in a two-class [motor imagery (MI) and rest; mental rotation (MR) and rest] brain–computer interface (BCI) is presented ...

Adaptive observer‐based control for fractional‐order chaotic MEMS system

open access: yesIET Control Theory & Applications, 2023
This paper proposes an adaptive observer‐based scheme to control fractional‐order chaotic micro‐electro‐mechanical‐systems (MEMS). The fractional‐order model of a system exhibits the dynamic behaviour of a physical system more accurately than a similar ...

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.
