Video data compression using artificial neural network differential vector quantization [PDF]

open access: yes
An artificial neural network vector quantizer is developed for use in data compression applications such as Digital Video. Differential Vector Quantization is used to preserve edge features, and a new adaptive algorithm, known as Frequency-Sensitive ...

Maternal Experiences and Perspectives of Marketing and Regulation of Commercial Milk Formula in Thailand: A Qualitative Study

open access: yesMaternal &Child Nutrition, Volume 22, Issue 1, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Commercial milk formula (CMF) marketing adversely influences breastfeeding practices globally. Thailand enacted the Control of Marketing Promotion of Infant and Young Child Food Act (‘Thai Code’) in 2017 to restrict the marketing of CMF for infants aged 0–12 months.

University Collaboration and Digitalization in SMEs: The Mediating Role of Managers' Digital Knowledge

open access: yesR&D Management, Volume 56, Issue 2, Page 338-362, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Digital technologies change the nature of product and service development and challenge established firms to adapt to the new digital environment. As small and medium‐sized enterprises (SMEs), in particular, lack the resources necessary to digitally transform their business, they are forced to find new strategies to stay competitive in a ...

On the optimality of code options for a universal noiseless coder [PDF]

open access: yes
A universal noiseless coding structure was developed that provides efficient performance over an extremely broad range of source entropy. This is accomplished by adaptively selecting the best of several easily implemented variable length coding ...

On the Role of Sea Surface Temperature in the 16 April 2024 Rainstorm Over the United Arab Emirates

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 3, 16 February 2026.
Abstract This study examines how anomalously high sea surface temperatures (SSTs) in the Arabian Sea and surrounding gulfs contributed to the record‐breaking rainfall (250 mm day−1 ${\text{day}}^{-1}$) over the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on 16 April 2024, with the greatest impacts in Dubai, Al‐Ain, and Abu Dhabi.

Compressive sampling for accelerometer signals in structural health monitoring [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In structural health monitoring (SHM) of civil structures, data compression is often needed to reduce the cost of data transfer and storage, because of the large volumes of sensor data generated from the monitoring system.

Rapid Identification of New Psychoactive Substances in Letters by LA‐APCI‐MS

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, Volume 18, Issue 2, Page 198-206, February 2026.
Laser ablation coupled to molecular mass spectrometry utilizing a modified atmospheric pressure chemical ionization source was used for the detection of synthetic cannabinoid receptor agonists in infused prison mail samples. ABSTRACT New psychoactive substances (NPS), especially synthetic cannabinoid receptor agonists (SCRA), are increasingly smuggled ...

Learning Binary Residual Representations for Domain-specific Video Streaming

open access: yes, 2017
We study domain-specific video streaming. Specifically, we target a streaming setting where the videos to be streamed from a server to a client are all in the same domain and they have to be compressed to a small size for low-latency transmission ...

Investigating Anthropogenic and Social Influences on Diet of Semi‐Urban Vervet Monkeys Using DNA Metabarcoding

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 2, February 2026.
We used eDNA metabarcoding of faecal samples to quantify the dietary composition of two vervet monkey populations in a semi‐urban environment in South Africa over a 4‐month period, and compared these results with visual observations. We found that both methods yielded similar results, but eDNA metabarcoding revealed a greater diversity of consumed taxa.
