SPDC-YOLO: An Efficient Small Target Detection Network Based on Improved YOLOv8 for Drone Aerial Image

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Target detection in UAV images is of great significance in fields such as traffic safety, emergency rescue, and environmental monitoring. However, images captured by UAVs usually have multi-scale features, complex backgrounds, uneven illumination, and ...

The ERIS adaptive optics system [PDF]

open access: yesSPIE Proceedings, 2016
ERIS is the new AO instrument for VLT-UT4 led by a Consortium of Max-Planck Institut fuer Extraterrestrische Physik, UK-ATC, ETH-Zurich, ESO and INAF. The ERIS AO system provides NGS mode to deliver high contrast correction and LGS mode to extend high Strehl performance to large sky coverage.

Data‐driven discovery of gene expression markers distinguishing pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia subtypes

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigates gene expression differences between two major pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) subtypes, B‐cell precursor ALL, and T‐cell ALL, using a data‐driven approach consisting of biostatistics and machine learning methods. Following analysis of a discovery dataset, we find a set of 14 expression markers differentiating the ...

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

Investigating the cell of origin and novel molecular targets in Merkel cell carcinoma: a historic misnomer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study indicates that Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) does not originate from Merkel cells, and identifies gene, protein & cellular expression of immune‐linked and neuroendocrine markers in primary and metastatic Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) tumor samples, linked to Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) status, with enrichment of B‐cell and other immune cell

A Reparameterization Feature Redundancy Extract Network for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Detection

open access: yesRemote Sensing
In unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) detection, challenges such as occlusion, complex backgrounds, motion blur, and inference time often lead to false detections and missed detections.

Reduced vascular leakage correlates with breast carcinoma T regulatory cell infiltration but not with metastatic propensity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A mouse model for vascular normalization and a human breast cancer cohort were studied to understand the relationship between vascular leakage and tumor immune suppression. For this, endothelial and immune cell RNAseq, staining for vascular function, and immune cell profiling were employed.

Co-Phase Error Detection for Segmented Mirrors Based on Far-Field Information and Transfer Learning

open access: yesPhotonics
The resolution of a telescope is closely related to its aperture size; however, the aperture of a single primary mirror telescope cannot be indefinitely enlarged due to design and manufacturing constraints.
