Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Implementation of an Adaptive Method for Changing the Frequency Division of the Counter Clock Signal in a Frequency-to-Code Converter

open access: yesEnergies, 2023
Processing physical quantities into an indirect signal is a standard method of transferring information about the measured quantity to the master system, which analyzes the data obtained from the acquisition system.

Detection of a signal in linear subspace with bounded mismatch [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We consider the problem of detecting a signal of interest in a background of noise with unknown covariance matrix, taking into account a possible mismatch between the actual steering vector and the presumed one.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

A Phonocardiographic-Based Fiber-Optic Sensor and Adaptive Filtering System for Noninvasive Continuous Fetal Heart Rate Monitoring

open access: yesSensors, 2017
This paper focuses on the design, realization, and verification of a novel phonocardiographic- based fiber-optic sensor and adaptive signal processing system for noninvasive continuous fetal heart rate (fHR) monitoring.

GLRT-Based Direction Detectors in Homogeneous Noise and Subspace Interference [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
In this paper, we derive and assess decision schemes to discriminate, resorting to an array of sensors, between the H0 hypothesis that data under test contain disturbance only (i.e., noise plus interference) and the H1 hypothesis that they also contain ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Joint antenna selection and beamforming for frequency diverse multiple‐input multiple‐output radar in mainlobe spectrum interferences and signal‐dependent interferences coexistence scenarios

open access: yesIET Radar, Sonar & Navigation, 2023
Due to the controllable degrees of freedom of frequency diverse array in the distance dimension, the frequency diverse multiple‐input multiple‐output (FDA‐MIMO) radar can easily deal with mainlobe interference, which is often difficult to solve in ...

A frequency domain blind signal separation method based on decorrelation

open access: yes, 2002
This paper addresses the issue of separating multiple speakers from mixtures of these that are obtained using multiple microphones in a room. An adaptive blind signal separation algorithm, which is entirely based on second-order statistics, is derived ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...
