Theory of weakly damped free-surface flows: a new formulation based on potential flow solutions

open access: yes, 2007
Several theories for weakly damped free-surface flows have been formulated. In this paper we use the linear approximation to the Navier-Stokes equations to derive a new set of equations for potential flow which include dissipation due to viscosity.

Are waves all localized in two dimensional random media?

open access: yes, 2002
It has been the dominant view for over two decades that all waves are localized in two dimensions for any given amount of disorder. Here, I would like to raise questions about this assertion. The discussion leads to the conclusion that there is a lack of

Bow design for low added resistance in waves

open access: yes, 2023

Concept design of a fast sail assisted feeder container ship

open access: yes, 2010
A fast sail assisted feeder container ship concept has been developed for the 2020 container market in the South East Asian and Caribbean regions. The design presented has met the requirements of an initial economic study, with a cargo capacity of 1270 ...

Evaluation of resistance increase and speed loss of a ship in wind and waves

open access: yesJournal of Ocean Engineering and Science, 2016
Given the indication of the IMO’s intent to the application of the EEDI and EEOI, the complete and precise total resistance of a ship and induced speed loss in wind and wave is primarily required.

Development Of A Semi-Swath Craft For Malaysian Waters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull (SWATH) and Catamaran vessels are known to have more stable platform as compared to mono-hulls. A further advantage of SWATH as compared to Catamaran is its smaller waterplane area that provides better seakeeping ...

Multi-Branch Artificial Neural Network-Based Decomposition of Ship’s Added Resistance Using On-Board Measured Data

open access: yesIEEE Access
Prediction and management of ship resistance in realistic sea conditions can play a significant role in reducing fuel consumption and carbon emissions. It usually relies on physical model testing and empirical formulas, both facing limitations in early ...

Time domain prediction of first- and second-order wave forces on rigid and elastic floating bodies [PDF]

open access: yes
The application and development of a transient three-dimensional numerical code ITU-WAVE which is based on panel method, potential theory and Neumann-Kelvin linearization is presented for the prediction of hydrodynamics characteristics of mono-hull and
