Thermodynamics of addition polymerization [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Polymer Science Part A: Polymer Chemistry, 2000
Addition polymerizations of both acyclic and cyclic monomers show the characteristic features of any aggregation process, in particular, a ceiling temperature above which the formation of the aggregate (long-chain polymer), under given conditions of monomer concentration, solvent, and pressure, would involve a positive change of free energy and is ...

Molecularly imprinted polymers by reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer precipitation polymerization for preconcentration of atrazine in food matrices

open access: yes, 2011
Controlled/living free radical polymerization (CLRP) has been accepted as an effective technique in preparation of polymers because of its inherent advantages over traditional free radical polymerization.

Systematic analysis of nucleation-dependent polymerization reveals new insights into the mechanism of amyloid self-assembly [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Self-assembly of misfolded proteins into ordered fibrillar aggregates known as amyloid results in numerous human diseases. Despite an increasing number of proteins and peptide fragments being recognised as amyloidogenic, how these amyloid aggregates ...

Piezoelectrically Mediated Reversible Addition-Fragmentation Chain Transfer Polymerization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
A well-controlled piezoelectrically mediated reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer polymerization (piezo-RAFT) was carried out under ultrasound agitation with piezoelectric ZnO nanoparticles as the mechano-chemical trans-ducer.

Polymeric drug delivery systems by additive manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Drug Delivery Reviews, 2021
Additive manufacturing (AM) is gaining interests in drug delivery applications, offering innovative opportunities for the design and development of systems with complex geometry and programmed controlled release profile. In addition, polymer-based drug delivery systems can improve drug safety, efficacy, patient compliance, and are the key materials in ...

Synthesis and cell adhesion studies of linear and hyperbranched poly(butyl methacrylate) and poly(t-butyl acrylate) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A library of polymers/oligomers with three different architectures was synthesised. Short chain, linear oligomers were produced by performing oxidative cleavage on a poly(butyl methacrylate-co-butadiene) polymer.

The pH dependence of polymerization and bundling by the essential bacterial cytoskeltal protein FtsZ [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
There is a growing body of evidence that bacterial cell division is an intricate coordinated process of comparable complexity to that seen in eukaryotic cells.

Decompositions in the production of low density polyethylene: Reasons, consequences and prevention [PDF]

open access: yesHemijska Industrija, 2007
In the production of low density polyethylene by free radical polymerization of ethylene at high pressure, ethylene and polyethylene occasionally decompose to carbon, hydrogen and methane resulting in an enormous increase of pressure and temperature ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...
