Sparse Regularization Least-Squares Reverse Time Migration Based on the Krylov Subspace Method

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Least-squares reverse time migration (LSRTM) is an advanced seismic imaging technique that reconstructs subsurface models by minimizing the residuals between simulated and observed data. Mathematically, the LSRTM inversion of the sub-surface reflectivity

A Versatile Microfluidic Extrusion‐Based Hydrogel Platform for Self‐Organization and Long‐Term Maintenance of Engineered 3D Lymphatic Endothelium

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Microfluidic coaxial extrusion generates size‐controlled 3D lymphatic tubes from primary human dermal lymphatic endothelial cells in a defined four‐component matrix. These engineered vessels self‐organize into stable lymphatic endothelium, maintain selective macromolecular permeability for 30 days, and enable direct comparison with blood endothelial ...

Sparsity promoting seismic imaging and full-waveform inversion

open access: yes, 2015
This thesis will address the large computational costs of solving least-squares migration and full-waveform inversion problems. Least-squares seismic imaging and full-waveform inversion are seismic inversion techniques that require iterative ...

“It’s between me and myself”: Inverse parasocial relationships in addressing (imagined) podcast listeners

open access: yesNew Media & Society
This article explores how podcasters address their invisible—and thus imagined—audience. Based on in-depth interviews, we examine how different ways of imagining the listener evoke specific strategies of addressivity and analyze the connection between these imaginaries and the concept of intimacy as understood and performed by podcasters.

Neutrophil‐Mimetic MRI Enables Ultra‐Early Detection of Vascular Inflammation After Stroke

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, we developed neutrophil‐mimetic MRI probes that detect ultra‐early neuroinflammation following ischemic stroke by targeting E‐selectin. Within seconds of their injection, these microparticles mimic initial leukocyte adhesion to the activated cerebral endothelium.

Computation of Generalized Inverses of Periodic Systems

open access: yes, 2004
We address the numerically reliable computation of generalized inverses of periodic systems. The underlying inverses are defined via the corresponding lifted repesentations.

Plasmonic Enhancement of Fluorescence and Protein Dynamics in Living Mammalian Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates plasmonic enhancement of the function of fluorescent voltage sensing proteins (genetically encoded voltage indicators, (GEVIs), QuasAr6) in live mammalian cells. Coupling to plasmonic nanoparticles does not just increase fluorescence, but influences the protein photocycle, creating a hybrid sensor with its response speed to ...

Inversion-based Latent Bayesian Optimization

open access: yes
Latent Bayesian optimization (LBO) approaches have successfully adopted Bayesian optimization over a continuous latent space by employing an encoder-decoder architecture to address the challenge of optimization in a high dimensional or discrete input ...

Labelling faces as “Autistic” reduces the Inversion Effect

open access: yes, 2018
Does the belief that a face belongs to an individual with autism affect recognition of that face? To address this question, we used the inversion effect as a marker of face recognition. In Experiment 1, participants completed a recognition task involving
