Inhibition of adenovirus serotype 14 infection by octadecyloxyethyl esters of (S)-[(3-hydroxy-2-phosphonomethoxy)propyl]- nucleosides in vitro. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
On September 22, 2008, a physician on Prince of Wales Island, Alaska, notified the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services (ADHSS) of an unusually high number of adult patients with recently diagnosed pneumonia (n = 10), including three persons ...

Lactylation in cancer biology: Unlocking new avenues for research and therapy

open access: yesCancer Communications, EarlyView.
Abstract Lactylation, a newly identified post‐translational modification, plays a multifaceted role in cancer biology by integrating epigenetic and non‐epigenetic mechanisms. This review summarizes the latest research progress on lactylation, including its functions in epigenetic regulation and its broader impact on cellular processes.

Functional Analysis of Histidine‐Dependent Self‐Cleaving RNAs Obtained by In Vitro Selection

open access: yesChemBioChem, EarlyView.
Ribozymes can be nucleic acid medicines given their catalytic activity. We attempted to obtain functional RNAs that mimic ribonuclease A catalytic mechanisms. Functional RNAs with high histidine specificity were obtained, suggesting that histidine acts in active structure formation.

ThiF‐Like Enzyme Chemistry in Primary and Secondary Metabolism

open access: yesChemBioChem, EarlyView.
ThiF‐like enzymes are a widespread protein family found in disparate biosynthetic pathways. They are unified by their use of an NTP to modify a carboxylate, generating an activated species prone to nucleophilic addition. This common intermediate is then targeted by diverse nucleophiles, including persulfide or amino acid side chains, to yield a variety

Relationships Among Beef Cow Productivity Traits and Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms in the Bovine Heat Shock Protein 70 Gene [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
When eukaryotes are exposed to stressors such as heat, toxins, and low oxygen levels, heat shock proteins (HSPs) are synthesized to maintain normal cellular function within the body.
