Receptors for adenosine and adenine nucleotides
General Pharmacology: The Vascular System, 19911. A summary is provided of current classifications of receptors for the adenine nucleosides and nucleotides. 2. The origin of the division of nucleoside (P1) and nucleotide (P2) receptors is discussed as well as the subdivisions of these into A1 and A2, determined by structure activity considerations, and P2x and P2y. 3.

Adenine nucleotides in the carotid body
Cell and Tissue Research, 1980Remarkably large amounts of adenine nucleotides are identified in type L-cells of the carotid body by fluorescence microscopy (labelling with quinacrine) and electron microscopy (uranaffin reaction). At the fine-structural level of the matrix material of specific granules displays enhanced electron density after fixation with uranium ions.

The adenine nucleotide translocator and the nucleotide specificity of oxidative phosphorylation
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Bioenergetics, 1970Abstract By studying P/O ratios, proton translocation and morphology of different mitochondrial preparations, it was shown, in agreement with previous work but in disagreement with a recent report, that the nucleotide specificity of the oxidative phosphorylation resides at the level of the adenine nucleotide translocator.

Effect of adenine nucleotides on reactions involving triphosphopyridine nucleotide
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta, 1955Oxidized TPN, and P-ADPR have been found to be competitive inhibitors of the TPNH-cytochrome c reductase of horse liver. 2′ AMP also competitively inhibits, at somewhat higher concentrations. DPN, ADPR, desamino TPN, 3′ AMP, 5′ AMP, 2′ IMP, and 3′ IMP produce very slight or no inhibition.

K channel interaction with adenine nucleotides
Journal of Molecular and Cellular Cardiology, 2005ATP-sensitive potassium (K(ATP)) channels are regulated by adenine nucleotides to convert changes in cellular metabolic levels into membrane excitability. Hence, elucidation of interaction of SUR and Kir6.x with adenine nucleotides is an important issue to understand the molecular mechanisms underlying the metabolic regulation of the K(ATP) channels ...

Effects of Adenine Nucleotides on Renal Metabolism
Nephron, 2008Regulatory effects which adenine nucleotides are known to exert on glycolysis and gluconeogenesis have been demonstrated in the isolated perfused rat kidney and in kidney cortex slices. These preparations rapidly converted added ATP into ADP and AMP; added ADP was also converted into AMP and added AMP was rapidly dephosphorylated. AMP produced from ATP

Blood adenine nucleotides in Down's syndrome
Blut Zeitschrift für die Gesamte Blutforschung, 1971The levels of ATP, ADP and AMP were estimated in the blood of children with trisomic Down's syndrome. A 19% decrease of the three adenine nucleotides per unit packed-cell volume was found. The significance of these data with respect to the macrocytosis found in patients with Down's syndrome is discussed.

Measurement of Adenine Nucleotides
1975Classically the autonomic nervous system consists of two components, adrenergic and cholinergic nerves. There have been a number of reports of a third nerve component in the autonomic nervous system which is neither adrenergic nor cholinergic and evidence has been presented that the transmitter released from these nerves, at least in the ...
