Tiptoeing on Metastatic Adenocarcinoma of the Lung [PDF]

open access: yesCase Reports in Oncological Medicine, 2019
Lung cancer remains the top cause of cancer-related death in the United States. Metastases to the distal phalanges are rare. This case illustrates an interesting presentation of metastatic adenocarcinoma of the lung that was mistaken for a benign condition of the toe.

Correlation of the differential expression of PIK3R1 and its spliced variant, p55α, in pan‐cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PIK3R1 undergoes alternative splicing to generate the isoforms, p85α and p55α. By combining large patient datasets with laboratory experiments, we show that PIK3R1 spliced variants shape cancer behavior. While tumors lose the protective p85α isoform, p55α is overexpressed, changes linked to poorer survival and more pronounced in African American ...

Clinical and molecular characterization of HER2 amplified-pancreatic cancer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
<p>Background: Pancreatic cancer is one of the most lethal and molecularly diverse malignancies. Repurposing of therapeutics that target specific molecular mechanisms in different disease types offers potential for rapid improvements in outcome ...

Basroparib inhibits YAP‐driven cancers by stabilizing angiomotin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Basroparib, a selective tankyrase inhibitor, suppresses Wnt signaling and attenuates YAP‐driven oncogenic programs by stabilizing angiomotin. It promotes AMOT–YAP complex formation, enforces cytoplasmic YAP sequestration, inhibits YAP/TEAD transcription, and sensitizes YAP‐active cancers, including KRAS‐mutant colorectal cancer, to MEK inhibition.

Rab3B enhances the stabilization of DDX6 to promote lung adenocarcinoma aggressiveness

open access: yesMolecular Medicine
Background Liver kinase B1 (LKB1) is frequently mutated in lung adenocarcinoma, and its loss contributes to tumor progression. Methods To identify LKB1 downstream genes that promote lung adenocarcinoma aggressiveness, we performed bioinformatical ...

Expression of ASPM in Lung Adenocarcinoma and Its Relationship with Development and Prognosis

open access: yesChinese Journal of Lung Cancer, 2020
Background and objective Previous studies have shown that ASPM is a tumorigenesis associated protein, mutations in ASPM can lead to MCPH. This study mainly explores the relationship between the ASPM expression of lung adenocarcinoma and the development ...

Clinical case of long-term use of atezolizumab and bevacizumab in the first-line treatment of recurrence of non-small cell lung cancer

open access: yesМедицинский совет, 2020
Lung cancer still holds the leading position in terms of morbidity and mortality, both among men and women. The five-year survival rate for lung cancer is one of the lowest among cancers and varies from 5% to 15% for different countries.

Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...
