Abstract Skeletal muscle fatigue is accompanied by the accumulation of metabolites, such as adenosine diphosphate (ADP), inorganic phosphate (Pi), and protons (H+). However, we lack a comprehensive understanding of the contribution of these metabolic changes to the development of muscle fatigue during intense exercise and the underlying mechanisms.

Dual role for pannexin 1 at synapses: regulating functional and morphological plasticity
Abstract figure legend Pannexin 1 (PANX1) regulation of dendritic spines. The postnatal decrease in PANX1 expression could release key spine cytoskeleton‐regulating proteins enabling spine stabilization. Does the physiological decrease in neuronal PANX1 levels across brain development underlie dendritic spine maturation?

Abstract figure legend The incretin system in obesity. The incretin hormones glucose‐dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) (yellow) and glucagon‐like peptide‐1 (GLP‐1) (blue) are produced by the proximal and distal small intestinal epithelium, where they are released postprandially into the bloodstream to modulate a myriad of physiological and ...

Dietary nitrate supplementation mitigates age‐related changes at the neuromuscular junction in mice
Abstract figure legend Ageing is associated with a decline in muscle mass and strength, namely sarcopenia, significantly impacting the quality of life in older individuals. Different strategies are being explored to counteract these detrimental effects. In the present study, we investigated a non‐invasive nutritional approach: the impact of 2 months of

Cyclic Adenosine Monophosphate: Function in Photoreceptors [PDF]
Inactivation of adenylate cyclase in outer segments of retinal photoreceptor cells is proportional to the bleaching of rhodopsin. Membranes of the outer segments also contain a particulate, light-insensitive phosphodiesterase of high specific activity. In electrophysiological experiments, application of cyclic adenosine monophosphate along

A chronocoulometric aptamer sensor for adenosine monophosphate [PDF]
The selective recognition of adenosine monophosphate by a half-duplex aptamer-modified electrode leads to a simple chronocoulometric aptasensor based on the changes in surface charges.
