Publisher Summary Of all the naturally occurring phosphates, ATP is the most widely distributed. As an energy-rich phosphate, it is formed in energy-yielding reactions by the phosphorylation of adenosine-5′-diphosphate and in energy-consuming reactions, it is reconverted to adenosine-5′-diphosphate with the liberation of energy.

The Vasodilator Action of Adenosine Triphosphate
Acta Physiologica Scandinavica, 1949Summary.ATP is a potent vasodilator agent, the minimal active doses amounting to 1/5–1/15 of those of acetylcholine when calculated as equiniolar concentrations. The vasodilator action seems to be due to a direct action on the vessels. On intravenous injection ATP is rapidly destroyed, presumably in the lungs.

Adenosine triphosphate catabolism in bovine spermatozoa
Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, 1995Adenosine triphosphate metabolism in caudal epididymis bovine spermatozoa was studied. Measurements by HPLC at appropriate time intervals of the spermatozoa content of ATP and its derivatives were carried out under different experimental conditions. In the presence of 2-D-glucose, cellular ATP was transformed almost quantitatively into ADP and AMP at a
