Insights into Adenovirus Uncoating from Interactions with Integrins and Mediators of Host Immunity
Human adenoviruses are large (150 MDa) nonenveloped double-stranded DNA (dsDNA) viruses that cause acute respiratory, gastrointestinal and ocular infections.

Expression of a Human Coxsackie/Adenovirus Receptor Transgene Permits Adenovirus Infection of Primary Lymphocytes [PDF]
Abstract Replication-defective adenoviruses are effective vehicles for gene transfer, both for the repair of defective genes and for studies of gene function in primary cells. Many cell types, including lymphocytes, are refractory to adenovirus infection because they lack the Coxsackie/adenovirus receptor (CAR) needed for virus ...

Identification and characterization of a novel human adenovirus type HAdV-D116
IntroductionHuman adenovirus infections are typically associated with acute respiratory infection, keratoconjunctivitis, acute cystitis, hepatitis, and gastroenteritis, while central nervous system (CNS) related infections are rarely reported.MethodsIn ...

Predicting the Next Eye Pathogen: Analysis of a Novel Adenovirus
For DNA viruses, genetic recombination, addition, and deletion represent important evolutionary mechanisms. Since these genetic alterations can lead to new, possibly severe pathogens, we applied a systems biology approach to study the pathogenicity of a ...

Volatile Relay Biosensing and Mobile Phone Imaging for Detection of Influenza Virus
Detection of volatile organic compounds is performed via a coupled enzymatic assay with mobile phone detection of the signal. Specific application demonstrated herein is the detection of influenza virus, across multiple levels of biological complexity, up to patient‐derived samples.

STAT2 Knockout Syrian Hamsters Support Enhanced Replication and Pathogenicity of Human Adenovirus, Revealing an Important Role of Type I Interferon Response in Viral Control. [PDF]
Human adenoviruses have been studied extensively in cell culture and have been a model for studies in molecular, cellular, and medical biology. However, much less is known about adenovirus replication and pathogenesis in vivo in a permissive host because

Parotid enlargement due to adenovirus infection in patient with human immunodeficiency virus infection [PDF]
The authors report a case of adenovirus- induced enlargement of the parotid gland involving a patient infected with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Physical examination revealed good general condition, no fever and bilateral enlargement of the parotid region, which was of increased consistency and slightly tender to palpation.
