Parotid enlargement due to adenovirus infection in patient with human immunodeficiency virus infection [PDF]
The authors report a case of adenovirus- induced enlargement of the parotid gland involving a patient infected with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Physical examination revealed good general condition, no fever and bilateral enlargement of the parotid region, which was of increased consistency and slightly tender to palpation.

Minimal hepatic toxicity of Onyx-015: spatial restriction of coxsackie-adenoviral receptor in normal liver. [PDF]
We administered an adenoviral vector, Onyx-015, into the hepatic artery of patients with metastatic colorectal cancer involving the liver. Thirty-five patients enrolled in this multi-institutional phase I/II trial received up to eight arterial infusions ...

Perinatal Gene Transfer to the Liver [PDF]
The liver acts as a host to many functions hence raising the possibility that any one may be compromised by a single gene defect. Inherited or de novo mutations in these genes may result in relatively mild diseases or be so devastating that death within

Research progress on human adenovirus sepsis
Human adenovirus is a significant viral pathogen causing lower respiratory tract infections in children, prone to developing into severe pneumonia and systemic inflammation with a high mortality rate, especially in immunocompromised children, drawing ...

Infants hospitalized for Bordetella pertussis infection commonly have respiratory viral coinfections [PDF]
Background: Whether viral coinfections cause more severe disease than Bordetella pertussis (B. pertussis) alone remains unclear. We compared clinical disease severity and sought clinical and demographic differences between infants with B.

Adenovirus-5 and adenovirus-37 seropositivity in obese patients
Background and Objectives: Obesity is a major health issue linked to conditions like diabetes, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia. Infectobesity suggests that certain microorganisms may contribute to obesity. Human adenovirus serotypes, particularly Human

Background. Adenoviruses are highly contagious pathogens which cause respiratory disease particularly in children; they may induce severe disease in infants. Human neutrophil peptides (HNPs) have been found to exhibit antiadenoviral activity.

Persistent Infection of Human Cells (HeLa) with Adenovirus Type 12.
SummaryThe establishment of an adeno-virus type 12 cell carrier system is described. Characteristics of the carrier cultures include an initial dependence on inhibitor or antibody in human serum, an enhanced rate of growth after the fifth day as compared to uninfected cells, a relatively high percentage of infected cells, but a low percentage of ...

Immune-mediated loss of transgene expression from virally transduced brain cells is irreversible, mediated by IFNγ, perforin, and TNFα, and due to the elimination of transduced cells [PDF]
The adaptive immune response to viral vectors reduces vector-mediated transgene expression from the brain. It is unknown, however, whether this loss is caused by functional downregulation of transgene expression or death of transduced cells.
