Three-year randomized controlled clinical study of a one step universal adhesive and a two-step self-etch adhesive in Class II resin composite restorations

open access: yes, 2017
Objective: To evaluate in a randomized controlled study the 2-year clinical durability of a one-step universal adhesive bonding system placed with the selective etch technique and a 2-step self-etch adhesive in Class II restorations. Material and methods:

Cohesive zone model for moist adhesive joints

open access: yes, 2022
S.405-426Chapter B.6 discussed the extension of visco‐elastic adhesive models to account for different spatially varying influence factors, for example the local concentration of water in the adhesive.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Experimental investigations on innovative crack repair methods and reinforcing steel structures with adhesivly bonded CFRP – lamellas

open access: yesEngineering Structures and Technologies, 2021
The paper describes some of the experiments carried out at the Chair of Steel and Timber Construction to reinforce steel with adhesively bonded CFRP lamellas. The first topic deals with the repair of cracks in steel structures exposed to fatigue.

Strength of the adhesive joints at the car-body parts from the ahss with al-si coating

open access: yes, 2017
The paper deals with the monitoring the utility properties of the Al-Si coating which is applied by means of the hot dip coating on the ultra-high strength sheet 22MnB5 (martensite steel alloyed by boron). These sheets are used at the car-body design

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Biomechanical Testing of a Calcium Phosphate-Phosphoserine–Based Mineral-Organic Adhesive for Non-invasive Fracture Repair of Mandibular Fractures in Dogs

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science, 2020
Mandibular fracture repair is complicated by limited availability of bone as well as the presence of the neurovascular bundle and an abundance of tooth roots.

Influence of adhesive thickness on local interface fracture and overall strength of metallic adhesive bonding structures

open access: yes, 2013
Adhesive bonding structures are widely used in a variety of engineering fields. Their overall strength is dependent on the cohesive properties involving local interface fracture.
