ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to evaluate welfare and health effects following single and repeated non‐lethal blood sampling from the caudal vasculature of Atlantic salmon. Two experiments were conducted at three different temperatures: a 6‐week freshwater experiment with fish weighing 50–100 g, undergoing up to four blood withdrawals, and a

The wide gape of snakes: A comparison of the developing mandibular symphysis in sauropsids
Our analysis explores the adaptations at the mandibular symphysis required to allow extreme lower jaw mobility in macrostomate snakes taking a comparative approach. Abstract The origin and evolution of snakes has been marked by the acquisition of many morphological and functional novelties, one of which is the possession of a highly kinetic skull ...

Animals were sensitized with mBSA emulsified in CFA/IFA and subsequently received three intra‐articular injections of mBSA into either the TMJ or the knee (once per week). Mechanical hyperalgesia was assessed using electronic von Frey testing after arthritis establishment at 24 h or 7 days following the third intra‐articular injection.

Associations Between Body Composition and Metabolic Health in Children With Obesity
ABSTRACT Childhood obesity is an increasing public health problem with heterogeneous metabolic health outcomes. In children, distinguishing differences in body composition between individuals with metabolically healthy obesity (MHO) and those with metabolic syndrome (MS) may be useful for understanding the impact of body composition on metabolic health.

Erythrocyte membrane protein 3 (EMAP3) is a novel Plasmodium berghei protein that is trafficked to the outer membrane surface of the infected red blood cell (iRBC). EMAP3 is not critical for parasite growth or sequestration but offers a new scaffold for displaying Plasmodium falciparum proteins on iRBCs.
