Perioperative outcomes of esophagectomy after doublet versus docetaxel‐based triplet neoadjuvant chemotherapy in older patients: A nationwide inpatient database study in Japan

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
In this nationwide inpatient database study of 5229 patients aged 70–79 years who underwent esophagectomy for cancer after neoadjuvant chemotherapy, overlap propensity score weighting analysis showed that neoadjuvant docetaxel‐based triplet regimen (docetaxel, cisplatin, and 5‐fluorouracil) was not associated with a higher incidence of perioperative ...

Outcomes of simultaneous resection for elderly patients with colorectal liver metastasis: A propensity score matching analysis

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 11, Issue 24, Page 4913-4926, December 2022., 2022
482 CRLM patients treated by simultaneous resection were categorized into the young group (age 70 years) and the elderly group (age GreaterEqual;70 years). Although elderly patients receiving simultaneous resection of CRLM have worse OS, similar PFS was reached in the multivariate analysis after propensity score matching.

Clinical role of intraperitoneal chemotherapy in patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma concomitant with occult peritoneal dissemination: A multicenter retrospective study

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
The effectiveness of intraperitoneal chemotherapy using paclitaxel (i.p.‐PTX) in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) patients with peritoneal dissemination remains elusive. This study indicated that the i.p.‐PTX therapy may improve survival in selected patients with PDAC, in particular those with occult peritoneal dissemination.

The effect of exercise training on endothelial function in postmenopausal women with breast cancer under aromatase inhibitor therapy

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 11, Issue 24, Page 4946-4953, December 2022., 2022
Exercise training led to significantly greater improvement in exercise capacity in postmenopausal women with aromatase inhibitor‐treated breast cancer than exercise counseling only, none the less it did not exert any measurable effects on endothelial dysfunction Abstract Background Breast cancer is the leading non‐cardiovascular cause of death in women.

A severity‐based tumor‐superior mesenteric/portal vein interface grading criteria as a predictor of survival outcomes in pancreatic head ductal adenocarcinoma patients undergoing pancreaticoduodenectomy following neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
PDAC patients with the radiological severe interface (≥25 contact length and ≥210 degrees circumferential tumor‐SMV/PV interface) may help predict poor survival outcomes preoperatively. Abstract Aim To assess the ability of a new severity‐based tumor‐superior mesenteric/portal vein interface criteria to predict survival outcomes in pancreatic ductal ...

Concordance of breast cancer biomarker testing in core needle biopsy and surgical specimens: A single institution experience

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 11, Issue 24, Page 4954-4965, December 2022., 2022
Retesting estrogen receptor and HER2 status provides more clinical benefit than retesting progesterone receptor status. We propose guidelines for retesting receptor profiles to aid patient care management decisions, prioritize clinical benefits, and minimize healthcare costs.
