Formation of Cyclic Selenium Imides via Acyclic Selenium Imide Chlorides in Cyclocondensation of Selenium Dichloride with tert‐Butylamine

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, EarlyView.
A computational study of the cyclocondensation reaction involving SeCl2 and tBuNH2 in THF explains the formation of cyclic tert‐butyl selenium imides Sen(NtBu)n–1 and Sen(NtBu)n (n = 3, 4) via acyclic ClSe[N(tBu)Se]nCl (n = 1–3) intermediates. The energetics and mechanisms of cyclocondensation reactions between SeCl2 and tBuNH2 in 1:3 molar ratio are ...

Using Environmental DNA Sampling for Simultaneous Detection of Hosts and Their Pathogens: A Case Study With the Critically Endangered Frog Genus Atelopus

open access: yesAnimal Conservation, EarlyView.
Environmental DNA is a powerful tool for simultaneous detection of rare species and their pathogens. We confirmed the presence of Atelopus at multiple sampling locations and found that the concentration of the amphibian pathogen Bd in eDNA samples was correlated with stream characteristics and the pathogen load of the amphibian community.
