The Biology of ADP-Ribosylation Factors

1993
Adenosine diphosphate (ADP) ribosylation factor (ARF) was originally defined as an activity required for the efficient activation of the purified, stimulatory, regulatory component of adenylyl cyclase, Gs, by cholera toxin (Schleifer et al. 1982; Kahn 1989, 1991).

ADP-ribosylation factors in rat parotid acinar cells.

European journal of morphology, 1999
ADP-ribosylation factor (Arf) is a 20 kDa polypeptide that is a member of the Ras superfamily of small molecular mass GTP-binding proteins. In addition to an essential role of Arf1 in vesicle budding, recent observations suggest a role for Arf6 in calcium-dependent exocytosis in bovine adrenal chromaffin cells.
