European multicentre study on outcome of surgery for sporadic primary hyperparathyroidism

open access: yesBJS (British Journal of Surgery), EarlyView., 2020
Some 5861 patients undergoing first‐time surgery for sporadic primary hyperparathyroidism were registered in the Eurocrine® database between 2015 and 2018. The use of intraoperative parathyroid hormone measurement decreased the risk of conversion and persistent hypercalcaemia.

Cytomegalovirus and BK-Virus co-infection of a clinically non-functioning adrenal adenoma: innocent bystanders or new pathogenetic agents?

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Histochemistry, 2009
We report a case of a 64-year-old woman who underwent left adrenalectomy with removal of a 8,5 cm clinically non-functioning adrenocortical adenoma and a 4-cm myelolipoma. Molecular testing for viral infection demonstrated the presence of cytomegalovirus

European Society of Endocrinology Clinical Practice Guidelines on the management of adrenal incidentalomas, in collaboration with the European Network for the Study of Adrenal Tumors.

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Endocrinology, 2023
Adrenal incidentalomas are adrenal masses detected on imaging performed for reasons other than suspected adrenal disease. In most cases, adrenal incidentalomas are non-functioning adrenocortical adenomas, but may also require therapeutic intervention ...

Differential diagnosis of adrenal masses by chemical shift and dynamic gadolinium enhanced MR imaging. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Chemical shift MRI is widely used for identifying adenomas, but it is not a perfect method. We determined whether combined dynamic MRI methods can lead to improved diagnostic accuracy.

Effects of loperamide on the human hypothalamo-pituitary-adrenal axis in vivo and in vitro. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
Loperamide, an opiate agonist of high specificity for p-receptors, was recently reported to suppress ACTH and cortisol levels in normal subjects, but not in patients with proven ACTH-dependent Cushing’s disease. However, there is little information on

Cardiovascular Outcomes in Autonomous Cortisol Secretion and Nonfunctioning Adrenal Adenoma: A Systematic Review

open access: yesJournal of the Endocrine Society, 2019
There is growing evidence that autonomous cortisol secretion (ACS), previously known as subclinical Cushing syndrome, is associated with greater prevalence of cardiovascular (CV) risk factors. However, it is unclear whether ACS is associated with greater
