Physiological Basis of Sex Differences in Human Performance and Exercise‐Associated Pathology

open access: yesClinical Endocrinology, Volume 105, Issue 2, Page 151-162, August 2026.
ABSTRACT The presence of sex differences in human physical performance is well‐established and shaped by distinct endocrine, anatomical and physiological mechanisms. Despite sustained advances, our understanding of how inherent biological factors drive variations in exercise capacity and related pathologies is still developing.

An experimental approach to assess the combined effects of multiple stressors on a large vertebrate species

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 40, Issue 4, August 2026.
Abstract The design of experiments to investigate the combined effects of multiple stressors requires exposing target organisms to multiple combinations of stressor doses. Concurrent manipulation of stressors is often infeasible with wildlife, but long‐lasting health effects allow individual health to be used as an integrator of prior stressor exposure.

Clinical Implications and Research Progress of Salivary Biomarkers for Endocrine and Metabolic Disorders

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, Volume 28, Issue 8, Page 6561-6575, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Aims Similar to blood, saliva contains a broad range of biomarkers and may offer a non‐invasive, repeatable specimen for endocrine and metabolic assessment. This review aims to synthesise and evaluate recent advances in the clinical translation of salivary biomarkers, while providing a critical assessment of the diagnostic reliability and ...

Dissecting the Strain and Sex Specific Connectome Signatures of Unanesthetized C57BL/6J and DBA/2J Mice Using Magnetic Resonance Imaging

open access: yesGenes, Brain and Behavior, Volume 25, Issue 4, August 2026.
C57BL/6J and DBA/2J mice were used to investigate strain and sex‐specific features of the brain connectome in awake animals using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). By combining resting‐state and diffusion MRI, we found significant differences in the motor, sensory, limbic, and salience networks between C57BL/6J and DBA/2J mice.

Multiancestry and Multitrait GWAS Meta‐Analysis on Schizophrenia With a Sample of 322,321 Unveils Genetic Links to Chronic Lung Diseases

open access: yesGenes, Brain and Behavior, Volume 25, Issue 4, August 2026.
This study integrated GWAS data for schizophrenia from European (PGC, FinnGen, iPSYCH) and East Asian cohorts with GWAS of chronic pulmonary diseases (COPD, asthma, ILD, pneumonia) and lung function traits, alongside transcriptomic and proteomic datasets (GEO, GTEx, CommonMind, pQTL).

Gait Impairment and Alzheimer's Disease Pathology: A Narrative Review on Mechanistic Links

open access: yesGeriatrics &Gerontology International, Volume 26, Issue 8, August 2026.
Gait impairment and AD‐related pathology may be linked through shared risks, preclinical AD changes, feedback effects of persistent gait dysfunction, and life‐course susceptibility, underscoring the importance of maintaining brain–body health across the lifespan. ABSTRACT In older adults, gait has emerged as an important indicator of overall health and
