Biointerfacing with AgBiS2 Quantum Dots for Pseudocapacitive Photostimulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
It is demonstrated that AgBiS2 quantum dots exhibit unique photoinduced pseudocapacitive charge transfer properties, enabling efficient light‐to‐electrical energy conversion. These quantum dots facilitate enhanced light absorption and transduction when integrated with ZnO nanowires, which serve as an effective charge transport medium.

Engineered Peptides‐Based Hybrid‐Nested Microneedle Effectively Treat Biofilm‐Infected Diabetic Wounds

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A hybrid‐nested microneedle/cryogel scaffold (MQW‐CMg‐MOF) is designed for efficient biofilm removal and accelerated healing of diabetic wounds. The scaffold shows substantial biofilm removal in vitro and in a preclinical diabetic swine biofilm‐infected wound model compared to the control.

Stratum Corneum‐Inspired Zwitterionic Hydrogels with Intrinsic Water Retention and Anti‐Freezing Properties for Intelligent Flexible Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A novel stratum corneum‐inspired zwitterionic hydrogel is developed for intelligent, flexible sensors, featuring intrinsic water retention and anti‐freezing properties. The quasi‐gel, composed of hygroscopic polymers and bound water, maintains its softness across a wide range of humidity.

5,11‐Di(thiophen‐2‐yl)Tetracene: A Novel Tetracene Derivative for Efficient Singlet Fission with Enhanced Physical and Chemical Stability in Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, a new tetracene derivative, 5,11‐di(thiophen‐2‐yl)tetracene (2T‐Tc) is introduced, exhibiting enhanced physical and chemical stability, and retaining favorable singlet fission kinetics with near unity triplet pair yield in thin films.

Multielement Filament Memristor Enabling Multifunctional Neuromorphic Device

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A new type of memristor featuring a hybrid mechanism and multifunctional applications is introduced. The proposed single device combines the alloy metal filament with the oxygen vacancy filament to achieve both resistive and threshold switching with enhanced reliability, mimicking both biological synapses and nociceptors. This study shows that filament‐

Stem Cells, Adult

2021
Stem cells refer to adult or somatic stem cells obtained from adult body tissues. They are found in the body from the earliest days (3–4 days) of embryonic development and endure throughout the lifecycle, although they are rare, dispersed, and difficult to identify.

Adult Neural Stem Cells

2008
Neural stem cells (NSCs) have been identified in the mature central nervous system (CNS), and they reside in specific areas. Cultures of NSCs can be successfully established in vitro by exploiting the NeuroSphere assay. This methodology relies on the continuous exposure of neural cells to mitogens such as epidermal growth factor and fibroblast growth ...

Neuronal stem cells in adults

Experimental Gerontology, 2006
Neuronal stem cells are like other tissue-specific stem cells, undifferentiated cells which can proliferate and may give rise to glia and neurons. They are present in mammalians throughout the entire life and are supposed to play an important role in renewal of neurons.

Signaling in adult stem cells

Frontiers in Bioscience, 2007
Adult stem cells are set aside during development in order to provide a source for replenishment of tissue over time in response to damage or simply wear and tear. The literature suggests that stem cells can be found in most major organ systems, and that they possess defining characteristics, namely the ability to both self-renew and differentiate down

Nicotine alters MicroRNA expression and hinders human adult stem cell regenerative potential.

Stem Cells and Development, 2013
Adult stem cells are critical for the healing process in regenerative medicine. However, cigarette smoking inhibits stem cell recruitment to tissues and delays the wound-healing process. This study investigated the effect of nicotine, a major constituent
