Evolutionary genomics of two diploid goat grass species belonging to the section Sitopsis of Aegilops, Aegilops longissima, and Aegilops sharonensis.

The Plant journal : for cell and molecular biology
Aegilops longissima and Ae. sharonensis, being classified into the Sitopsis section of genus Aegilops, are distinct species both taxonomically and ecologically. Nevertheless, earlier observations indicate that the two species are not reproductively isolated to full extent and can inter-bred upon secondary contact.

Genomic analysis in the genus Aegilops.

Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 1992
Hybrids between different Aegilops species and Secale cereale were studied at metaphase I by means of a C-banding technique. On the basis of differences in the C-banding patterns of some of the chromosomes of these hybrids it was possible to carry out an accurate analysis of several types of Aegilops-Aegilops and Aegilops-Secale chromosome associations

[Molecular cytogenetic identification of Aegilops ventricosa x Aegilops cylindrica amphiploid SDAU18].

Fen zi xi bao sheng wu xue bao = Journal of molecular cell biology, 2009
SDAU18, an amphiploid of Ae.ventricosa with Ae.cylindrica, was identified by cytological analysis, seed storage protein electrophoresis, genomic in situ hybridization (GISH) and inoculation assessment. The results are as follows: The chromosome number of root tip cells (RTCs) of SDAU18 plants varied from 52 to 56.
