Aerococcus viridans Endocarditis [PDF]

open access: yesMayo Clinic Proceedings, 1984
Aerococcus viridans organisms are gram-positive cocci with a strong tendency to form tetrads. These bacteria have infrequently been encountered as a human pathogen, particularly in bacterial endocarditis. A review of the literature suggests that treatment of A.

Spondylodiscitis due to Aerococcus viridans [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Medical Microbiology, 2008
Aerococcus viridans is a microaerophilic, Gram-positive, catalase-negative coccus, found singly or in tetrads. To date, no case of spondylodiscitis due to this organism has been reported. We report what we believe to be the first case of spondylodiscitis caused by A.

An Exploratory Study on the Pathogenic Role of Faecal Extracellular Vesicles in Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease Progression and in Drug-Induced Liver Injury. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Extracell Vesicles
Fecal extracellular vesicles (fEVs) from DILI patients have a distinct bacterial profile. This study provides evidence that bacterial EVs enter the bloodstream. DILI and MASLD F≥3 fEVs increase the pro‐inflammatory response and hepatocyte steatosis. FEVs from DILI patients enhance the hepatotoxic potential of diclofenac.

Roles of the vagina and the vaginal microbiota in urinary tract infection: evidence from clinical correlations and experimental models

open access: yesGMS Infectious Diseases, 2020
Mounting evidence indicates that the vagina can harbor uropathogenic bacteria. Here, we consider three roles played by the vagina and its bacterial inhabitants in urinary tract infection (UTI) and urinary health.

Aerococcus urinae Infective Endocarditis

open access: yesCureus, 2022
Aerococcus urinae is a gram-positive organism frequently found in the urinary tract. It is often mistaken for Streptococcus and Enterococcus based on its appearance. It commonly causes urinary tract infections but has rarely been associated with fatal infective endocarditis and sepsis.

Aerococcus vaginalis sp. nov., isolated from the vaginal mucosa of a beef cow, and emended descriptions of Aerococcus suis, Aerococcus viridans, Aerococcus urinaeequi, Aerococcus urinaehominis, Aerococcus urinae, Aerococcus christensenii and Aerococcus sanguinicola

open access: yesInternational Journal of Systematic and Evolutionary Microbiology, 2014
A gram-stain-positive, facultatively anaerobic, non-spore-forming, catalase-negative, coccoid-shaped bacterial strain, designated BV2T, was isolated from the vaginal mucosa of a beef cow in Japan. Phylogenetic analysis showed that the isolate shared high 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity (92.9 %) with Aerococcus suis

Prosthetic valve endocarditis caused by Aerococcus Urinae

open access: yesIDCases, 2020
Infective endocarditis (IE) caused by Aerococcus urinae is rare. The true incidence rate of this pathogen is likely underestimated as this is easily misidentified as Staphylococci or Streptococci.

Aero to the heart: A case of aortic valve endocarditis caused by Aerococcus Urinae in an elderly woman

open access: yesIDCases, 2023
Aerococcus urinae (A. urinae) is an infrequent cause of infective endocarditis (IE) and few cases have been reported especially in older women. As of this publication, there are 31 reported cases of IE caused by aerococcus urinae, and of these, 4 are of ...

Aerococcus suis sp. nov., isolated from clinical specimens from swine [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Biochemical and molecular genetic studies were performed for five isolates of unknown Gram-positive, catalase-negative, cocci-shaped micro-organisms obtained from clinical samples from pigs.
