Aerococcus, a New Bacterial Genus [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of General Microbiology, 1953
SUMMARY: The generic name Aerococcus is proposed for a group of aerobic Grampositive cocci that are commonly found in the air of occupied places and in dust. The most characteristic features of the organisms are ability to grow in the presence of 40 % bile and to produce greening on blood agar.

ENDOCARDITE INFECCIOSA DE VALVA MITRAL POR AEROCOCCUS URINAE: UM PATÓGENO NÃO USUAL E UMA INFECÇÃO GRAVE

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Infectious Diseases, 2023
Aerococcus urinae é um coco Gram-positivo, catalase-negativo, mais comumente envolvido em infecções do trato urinário. Infecções invasivas são raras, com pouco mais de sessenta casos de endocardite já descritos.

Images of Aerococcus urinae [PDF]

open access: yesWikiversity Journal of Medicine, 2015
This is a description of an infection in 73 year old man with multiple comorbidities, with images of Aerococcus urinae from resultant blood cultures, showing their alpha hemolytic and Gram-positive properties. Plain language summary: Aerococcus urinae is a type of bacteria that can lead to infections in the urinary system. This work describes a 73 year

Nutritional Requirements for Growth of Aerococcus viridans [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of General Microbiology, 1970
SUMMARY: Vitamin requirements for growth in a casein hydrolysate medium were determined for 27 strains of Aerococcus viridans from diverse sources. Panto-thenic acid, nicotinic acid and biotin were either absolutely required by, or markedly stimulatory to, all strains; none required thiamin, riboflavin, pyridoxine, folic acid or folinic acid.

Aerococcus Viridans: A Rare Pathogen Causing Urinary Tract Infection [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research, 2017
Aerococci are Gram-positive cocci with colony morphology similar to viridans streptococci. Most often these isolates in clinical samples are misidentified and considered insignificant.

Foul smelling urine in an adult caused by Aerococcus urinae

open access: yesIDCases, 2023
We describe the first adult case with Aerococcus urinae positive urine cultures as the proven cause of recurrent socially disabling malodorous urine. Bacterial strain specific factors as well as host factors are shown to play a role. The condition can be

Genome Sequence of Aerococcus viridans LL1 [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Bacteriology, 2012
ABSTRACT Aerococcus viridans is a catalase-negative Gram-positive bacterium and has been described as an airborne organism widely distributed in the hospital environment or in clinical specimens. We isolated A. viridans strain LL1 from indoor dust samples collected by a patient.
