Aerococcus urinae - A potent biofilm builder in endocarditis. [PDF]
The diagnosis of infective endocarditis (IE) remains a challenge. One of the rare bacterial species recently associated with biofilms and negative cultures in infective endocarditis is Aerococcus urinae.

A Case of Pacemaker Endocarditis Caused by Aerococcus urinae. [PDF]
Background. Aerococcus urinae has lately been acknowledged as a cause of infective endocarditis (IE) especially in older males with underlying urinary tract disorders. In this population, cardiac implanted electronical devices (CIED) are not uncommon, but despite the capacity of A. urinae to form biofilm in vitro, no cases of aerococcal CIED infections

Comment on "Necrotizing Urethritis due to Aerococcus urinae". [PDF]
I read with interest the case report of a man with necrotizing urethritis caused by Aerococcus urinae by Babaeer and coworkers [1]. This report clearly describes a novel and serious clinical presentation of an infection claimed to be caused by Aerococcus urinae.

Aerococcus urinae Infective Endocarditis. [PDF]
Aerococcus urinae is a gram-positive organism frequently found in the urinary tract. It is often mistaken for Streptococcus and Enterococcus based on its appearance. It commonly causes urinary tract infections but has rarely been associated with fatal infective endocarditis and sepsis.

Necrotizing Urethritis due toAerococcus urinae [PDF]
A 49-year-old male presented to the emergency with hematuria and pain in the shaft of the penis for one day. The patient was found to be in a state of shock. The shaft of the penis and the scrotum were swollen and tender. No skin necrosis was observed and no crepitus was palpable. Serum white count (WBC) was 29.5 × 103/μL.

A mouse model displays host and bacterial strain differences in Aerococcus urinae urinary tract infection. [PDF]
In recent years, the clinical significance of Aerococcus urinae has been increasingly recognized. A. urinae has been implicated in cases of urinary tract infection (UTI; acute cystitis and pyelonephritis) in both male and female patients, ranging from ...

Aerococcus urinae tricuspid valve infective endocarditis. [PDF]
Aerococcus urinae is an alpha-hemolytic, gram-positive coccus that is responsible for 54/1,000,000 cases of all urinary tract infections. Risk factors include male gender, advanced age, and genitourinary tract abnormalities. It has often been misidentified as Staphylococcus or Streptococcus due to its morphological similarities.

Aerococcus urinae Spondylodiscitis: A Case Report and Review of the Literature. [PDF]
Background: Aerococcus urinae, a rare human pathogen, mainly causes urinary tract infection, endocarditis, and bacteremia. However, it is rarely the cause of other types of infection such as spondylodiscitis. Invasive A. urinae infection chiefly occurs in older men with underlying urinary tract disorders.
