In Vivo Aerodynamic Characteristics of the Nijdam Voice Prosthesis [PDF]
The Nijdam voice prosthesis is an indwelling valveless voice prosthesis for postlaryngectomy voice rehabilitation. The in vitro aerodynamic characteristics are reported to be comparable to that of the low-resistance Groningen voice prosthesis. Owing to the design of the prosthesis the airflow resistance depends on the shaft length of the voice ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

A Mathematical Model to Analyze the Static Stability of Hybrid (Aero- Hydrodynamically Supported) Vehicles. [PDF]
Among the new concepts developed for high speed marine vehicles over the last two decades, the "aerodynamic alleviation" approach consists in using an aerodynamic surface to "alleviate" the weight sustained by the hydrodynamic lift.
