Aeroelastic Stability of the 747/0rbiter

Journal of Aircraft, 1977
A quasisteady analysis of the aeroelastic stability of the lateral (antisymmetric) modes of the 747/Orbiter vehicle demonstrates that the interference effect of the Orbiter wake on the 747 tail furnishes an aerodynamic undamping contribution to the low-frequency elastic modes.

AEROELASTIC STABILITY OF SUSPENSION BRIDGES

1980
ABSTRACT An advanced theory on the aeroelastic stability of suspension bridges has been developed by taking into account the drag effects of the aerodynamically shaped decks. The theory includes both structural systems of suspension bridges, the classical system of hanging bridges and the new system of prestressed bridges.

Aeromechanics and Aeroelastic Stability of Coaxial Rotors

Journal of Aircraft, 2021
Coaxial rotor aeroelasticity is complex due to the counter-rotating wake system, rotor lift offset, periodic blade passage loads, unsteady rotor wake interactions, reduced rotor speed, and stiff hi...

Aeroelastic Stability Characteristics of an Oblique-Wing Aircraft

Journal of Aircraft, 1977
Two different studies are presented involving a transport category aircraft with an oblique or asymmetrically swept wing. The first study concerns itself with the effect on flutter of changes in certain of the aircraft structural and inertial parameters.

Aeroelastic stability of cascades in turbomachinery

Progress in Aerospace Sciences, 1994
Abstract State-of-the-art prediction of the aeroelastic stability of cascades in axial-flow turbomachines is reviewed. The first main chapter of the article presents a comprehensive formulation of the two- and three-dimensional classical (unstalled) flutter problem of tuned and mistuned rotor blade rows and bladed disc assemblies.

Uncertainty Quantification of Aeroelastic Stability

2014
The application of uncertainty analysis for the prediction of aeroelastic stability, using probabilistic and non-probabilistic methodologies, is considered in this chapter. Initially, a background to aeroelasticity and possible instabilities, in particular “flutter,” that can occur in aircraft is given along with the consideration of why Uncertainty ...

Propagation of structural uncertainty to linear aeroelastic stability

Computers & Structures, 2010
The problem of linear flutter analysis in the presence of structural uncertainty is addressed. Whereas the propagation of uncertain structural parameters in finite element models has been carried out by a number of different methods, there appears to be less published work on the influence of random structural parameters on flutter speed. In this paper,

Stability analysis of aeroelastic systems based on aeroelastic FRF and condition number

Aircraft Engineering and Aerospace Technology, 2012
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to analyze the stability of aeroelastic systems using aeroelastic frequency response function (FRF).Design/methodology/approach – The proposed technique determines the instability boundary of an aeroelastic system based on condition number (CN) of aeroelastic FRF matrix or directly from FRFs data.Findings ...

Aeroelastic analysis of turbomachinery

International Journal of Numerical Methods for Heat & Fluid Flow, 2004
Summary: Part II of the two-part paper describes an aeroelastic analysis program and its application for stability computations of turbomachinery blade rows. Unsteady Euler or Navier-Stokes equations are solved on dynamically deforming, body fitted grid to obtain the aeroelastic characteristics.
