Surface dynamics of aerolysin on the plasma membrane of living cells
Aerolysin secreted by the human pathogen Aeromonas hydrophila belongs to a group of bacterial toxins that are hemolytic and form channels in biological membranes. The toxin is secreted as an inactive precursor proaerolysin that must be proteolytically processed at its C-terminus to become active.

Solubilization, Activation, and Insecticidal Activity of Bacillus thuringiensis Serovar thompsoni HD542 Crystal Proteins [PDF]
Cry15Aa protein, produced by Bacillus thuringiensis serovar thompsoni HD542 in a crystal together with a 40 kDa accompanying protein is one of a small group of non-typical, less well-studied members of the Cry family of insecticidal proteins, and may ...

ABSTRACT Paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH) is a rare hematologic disorder caused by a defect of glycosylphosphatidyl‐anchored proteins, leading to an uncontrolled complement‐mediated hemolysis. The advent of complement inhibitors in clinical practice radically changed patients' outcomes and survival.

Impact of aerolysin modification on toxic activity.
Aerolysin variants were titrated on KBM7 cells. 0.5×105 cells per sample were incubated with toxin for 1 hour at 37°C in a total volume of 100 µL, stained with propidium iodide (PI), and the PI negative percentage determined by flow cytometry.

Folding and Structure of the Pore Forming Toxin Aerolysin [PDF]
The first obstacle encountered by a bacterial pathogen once inside the host is the plasma membrane surrounding the target cells. Throughout evolution bacteria has acquired and maintained genes that upon stimulation express proteins capable of damaging ...

Binary Toxin Subunits of Lysinibacillus sphaericus Are Monomeric and Form Heterodimers after In Vitro Activation. [PDF]
The binary toxin from Lysinibacillus sphaericus has been successfully used for controlling mosquito-transmitted diseases. An activation step shortens both subunits BinA and BinB before their interaction with membranes and internalization in midgut cells,

Multi‐species transcriptomics and deep learning identified candidate genes associated with silk and venom production in Bibionomorpha. Venom‐associated genes were enriched in proteases, inhibitors and pore‐forming proteins, whereas silk‐related genes showed chitin‐binding and peritrophin domains. Integrating co‐expression networks, machine learning and

Developmental and Epileptic Encephalopathy due to Biallelic Pathogenic Variants in PIGM
ABSTRACT Objective PIGM encodes a critical enzyme in the glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)‐anchor biosynthesis pathway. While promoter‐region mutations in PIGM have been associated with a relatively mild phenotype characterized by portal vein thrombosis and absence seizures, recent evidence suggests that coding‐region mutations result in a more severe
