Aeromagnetic anomaly map for India: the scientific need

Arabian Journal of Geosciences, 2020
Aeromagnetic methods are primarily used for regional geological mapping and in the exploration of natural resources such as oil and gas, minerals, and groundwater. They are also extremely useful in research studies on the internal structure and evolution of the earth, plate tectonics, and earthquakes.

Aeromagnetic anomalies over faulted strata

The Leading Edge, 2011
High-resolution aeromagnetic surveys are now an industry standard and they commonly detect anomalies that are attributed to faults within sedimentary basins. However, detailed studies identifying geologic sources of magnetic anomalies in sedimentary environments are rare in the literature.

The upward continuation of an aeromagnetic anomaly in Washington

Geophysics, 1964
Abstract The possibility of testing the thickness of a body assumed to be the source of an intrabasement anomaly by computing the observed field upward until the body begins to lose the characteristics of the intrabasement or thick-body anomaly and acquire those of the suprabasement or plate type of body was tested on on a magnetic ...

Significance of remanence in Stawell goldfield aeromagnetic anomalies

Australian Journal of Earth Sciences, 2006
Gold in the Stawell goldfield is hosted by a sequence of sulfide-mineralised metasediments, the Stawell Facies and Albion Formation, overlying chloritised basalts. Aeromagnetic anomalies in the northwestern part of the Stawell corridor display intense negative and positive lobes: at the Kewell prospect, these take the form of an axial high flanked by ...

Interpretation of the aeromagnetic anomalies of southern Vancouver Island

Canadian Journal of Earth Sciences, 1988
A low-pass filtered aeromagnetic map of southern Vancouver Island is inverted into a magnetization-contrast map that illustrates the lateral variations in the magnetization of the crust. The Island Intrusions and the West Coast Crystalline Complex are characterized by high magnetization relative to the other lithologic groups.

Oil fields and aeromagnetic anomalies

Geophysics, 1965
Abstract Six examples of relationships between aeromagnetic anomalies and producing areas are presented by maps of subsurface structure, observed aeromagnetics, second vertical derivatives of the aeromagnetic fields, and maps of the magnetic basement computed from the aeromagnetic data whenever all these are available.

Interpretation of aeromagnetic anomalies by the use of characteristic curves

Geophysics, 1966
Abstract In fitting simple models such as prisms or tabular bodies to magnetic anomaly patterns, certain dimensionless groupings of measurements from the anomaly--termed 'characteristic estimators'--appear to be more effective than others in achieving satisfactory solutions.
