A balanced edge detector for aeromagnetic data
Vietnam Journal of Earth Sciences, 2023One of the most significant challenges in interpreting magnetic data is to mitigate the influence of the magnetization direction in the shape of the anomalies, especially when reduction to the pole fails to position them over the sources. We propose a balanced high-order filter that has low sensitivity to the direction of the resultant magnetization ...

Skeletonization of aeromagnetic data
Geophysics, 2004Abstract Skeletonization is a syntactic pattern-recognition method that is applied to gridded data to produce an automatic line drawing, with an associated event catalog. Previous implementations of skeletonization have been tailored for seismic data. Here, we modify that technique to render it more suitable for other types of gridded

Characteristics of the crystalline basement beneath the Ordos Basin: Constraint from aeromagnetic data [PDF]
Aeromagnetic anomaly zonation of the Ordos Basin and adjacent areas was obtained by processing high-precision and large-scale aeromagnetic anomalies with an approach of reduction to the pole upward continuation.

Experience with transformation of aeromagnetic data to the pole
Geoexploration, 1973Previously hand contoured aeromagnetic data from an area in Eyre Peninsula, South Australia have been taken and transformed to the pole. This process corrects the asymmetry introduced by the inclination of the earth's magnetic field. The results show, typically, magnetic anomalies shifted up to about 0.4 km to the magnetic south.

Research on the altitude correction of aeromagnetic data
International Workshop on Gravity, Electrical & Magnetic Methods and Their Applications, Beijing, China, October 10–13, 2011, 2011Altitude correction of aeromagnetic data is necessary for further processing and interpretation. There are two main ways to do altitude corrections, either on discrete (flight line) data or on gridded data. According to the particularities of the data, errors are unavoidable while gridding discrete data, so the altitude correction methods based on grid

Enhancement of subtle features in aeromagnetic data
Exploration Geophysics, 2000The enhancement of magnetic data for qualitative interpretation involves manipulating magnetic relief and magnetic texture. Magnetic relief consists primarily of anomaly amplitude and is relatively objective. Magnetic texture consists of shape, size and continuity of adjacent anomalies and is more subjective.

The antialiased textural analysis of aeromagnetic data
Computers & Geosciences, 2009Textural analysis is a powerful tool that can be used to enhance subtle detail in raster datasets. It is often used as an input to data classification methods to improve the accuracy of the result. This paper suggests the application of unweighted area sampling to the calculation of texture using grey-level co-occurrence matrices because it gave much ...

Statistical models for interpreting aeromagnetic data
Geophysics, 1970Abstract A mathematical basis for the application of power spectrum analysis to aeromagnetic map interpretation is developed. An ensemble of blocks of varying depth, width, thickness, and magnetization is considered as a statistical model.

Geological Interpretation of Aeromagnetic Data
2013This book aims to help you to extract maximum value from aeromagnetic survey data. It shows how to integrate these data with geological data to build an interpretation that matches the objectives of your project. We emphasise that the main ingredients in a high-quality interpretation are astute use of the geoscientist’s brain and adequate time, not ...
