Quality Control of Gridded Aeromagnetic Data

Exploration Geophysics, 2000
Many gridded images of aeromagnetic data include artefacts and 'unlikely' correlations of anomalies across flight lines. This distorts the anomaly shapes and patterns used to interpret the data, as well as introducing (or removing) power at certain frequencies which may be important for further processing.

Apparent Magnetisation from Aeromagnetic Data

Exploration Geophysics, 1992
Magnetic effects associated with the terrain may cause great difficulty in the interpretation of aeromagnetic surveys, especially for draped surveys above a rugged magnetised terrain. A method has been developed that allows (gridded) magnetic field observations and topography (described by a digital terrain model) to be inverted to obtain a map showing

Textural Filtering of Aeromagnetic Data

Exploration Geophysics, 1995
The qualitative interpretation of aeromagnetic data relies on amplitude and textural variations within the data to map different geological units. An interpretation is commonly based on a suite of images where the data have been subjected to various filtering operations designed to highlight different characteristics. Most of these filtering operations

Reprocessing and interpretation of the aeromagnetic data of Algeria

SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 2007, 2007
We present the results of reprocessing and interpretation of the aeromagnetic data, originally acquired by Aeroservice Corporation during the early 1970’s, over the Algerian territory. Comprehensive processing procedures of these data are outlined in this contribution to bring them to a modern standard.

Automated Trend Reinforcement of Aeromagnetic Data

Proceedings, 1995
Aeromagnetic maps poorly represent lineaments that are at acute angles to the flight‐line direction. Commonly used gridding algorithms cannot cope with local trends, magnetic anomalies at an angle with the main trend of the map, and tend to generate closed contours around the flight lines. By introducing some a priori information, it is possible to add

Linear feature analysis for aeromagnetic data

Geophysics, 2006
Abstract This paper presents a new approach to detecting and two approaches to displaying lineaments associated with high-angle magnetic contacts, based on analysis of the curvature of the total horizontal gradient of the total magnetic field reduced to the pole.

Fractal stochastic modeling of aeromagnetic data

Geophysics, 1991
Abstract We present a convolutional linear data model for the processing of aeromagnetic data. The model assumes that the data derive from the superposition of a deterministic system function and a stochastic innovation process. The two-dimensional system function is described by a four-pass autoregressive (AR) filtering procedure and

2.5D modelling of Somma–Vesuvius structure by aeromagnetic data

Journal of Volcanology and Geothermal Research, 1998
Abstract This paper deals with the analysis of aeromagnetic data on the Somma–Vesuvius area. An inverse 2.5D method is used, its main features being a variable strike length and a data set relative to a vertical plane. This last provides a depth resolution, so that the result consists in a magnetic tomography along a vertical section.

Localized cultural denoising of high‐resolution aeromagnetic data

Geophysical Prospecting, 2007
ABSTRACTWe show how a denoising technique based on the wavelet transform can be used to deal with localized noise related to DC electrified railway lines. This method, which performs localized and sharp filtering of cultural noise, was applied to high‐resolution aeromagnetic data acquired in the Phlegrean volcanic area, southern Italy, in 1999 and 2001.

An Elaborately Designed Virtual Frame to Level Aeromagnetic Data

IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Letters, 2016
Aeromagnetic data are usually contaminated by line-to-line errors, which are most often visible as stripe patterns in a 2-D data map. Leveling is a critical step to eliminate these errors in data processing and interpretation. The conventional tie-line leveling technique involves control lines (tie lines) which are perpendicular to flight lines to ...
